Booked the hotel for my friend's wedding anniversary via Agoda for Hyde Ibiza which the sister hotel, but they seemed messed up of my booking which offered the upgrade to Mondrian.
It's my very first experience in Ibiza, I don't know what I will get, but with the price that I paid, I expect something at least more than basic... Especially, when I was upgraded to 5 stars...
I arrived at the hotel around midday, and the Hyde Ibiza reception couldn't find my booking which seemed to be a problem even though I provided the email that Hyde Ibiza had sent to me to remind me of my stay with them back to less than a week ago.
The receptionist seemed very concerned and spoke to his supervisor on the front of me in Spanish (which I think is very rude when the guest couldn't understand what you were talking about in front of you).
Then, the supervisor decided to upgrade me to the sister hotel at Mondrian just next door which is nice, but still no explanation or apology word from either of them, just said to me "We upgraded you to our sister hotel which is a 5 star instead of 4 star", it sounds like they are satisfied with the decision they made and I should be happy....
They did assist e to next door and handed me over to another doorman, who led me to the reception there, but again, it seems no communication in between and the reception even asked me to pay a deposit charge on the desk even though I mentioned I have paid advance in full.... It doesn't sound like they trust their guest, I didn't feel I was offered as an upgraded guest due to their own mistake, there is no sympathy for my incontinence that they have caused ..
The hotel pool is lovely, but the food is a bit overpriced.
I like the room they offered in Mondrian with the beautiful view, and the room was clean and comfortable. Also provided good quality shampoo and shower gels.
The bed was very comfortable and pillows are very good. On the bedside have a separate USB charger which is very useful.
The breakfast was too simple and there were not enough choices for a 5 star hotel, more like 3-4 star B&B. (They charge €55/head as you can see the photo attached which they could also charge €35/head instead)
As I didn't realise my booking was not included breakfast, I was still willing to pay for the breakfast next morning, but I almost been charged twice on my bill when I check out.
I could had paid double amount if I didn't look at my payment details. The receptionist was trying to explain one of them list as lunch, but actually the breakfast, but there was another line of charge of breakfast which much less...
I challenge her answer, then she decided to cancel one of the charge off my bill. That was very odd and wired... This doesn't feel like a 5 star hotel operation...
I would consider giving it a try again in the future, but the service and communication level really needs to improve....
The location is good for those who wish staying in the local area, but it will need 20 minutes by car or taxi into the clubs or old town and other main...
Read moreThe Mondrian is a beautiful hotel in a lovely location, with unfortunately terrible service. Our experience is NOT what one would expect from a "5-star" hotel. We booked a one bedroom suite, and when we returned from dinner on our second night we noticed water leaking from our bathroom ceiling. We called the front desk to report it and they said they would send somebody, but nobody arrived. In the morning we awoke to a large pool of water running through our suite. We have spoken to hotel staff about this, including management, six times over a period of 15 hours and nothing has been done to fix the problem. When I spoke to the manager on the sixth occasion, I was told "the leak is fixed", however when I went to my room the floor was still covered in water from the front entrance to the back of the room, including water leaking into the hallway. I do not understand how someone can come in, "fix a leak", look at a room that resembles a children's wading pool, then think that the job has been done. There have been no apparent attempts to make the situation right, let alone clean up the water and prevent any further damage to their own property. I am completely baffled by the utter lack of care shown by the Mondrian staff in response to this situation. When I asked to move to another room, I was told that the hotel was fully booked and NOTHING was available except for our waterlogged suite. Unfortunately the in-the-sea vibe of our room is not the only issue. The lipstick on this pig is wearing off - the curtain tracks in our ceiling are falling out, with drywall and screws falling on me every time I open and close the curtains. The bathroom doors in the pool area are unable to be closed and locked properly. Beyond the stunning lobby area, the hotel feels like it is in a state of decline. If you think our experience is a one-off, it's also worth noting that the family members we are here with booked a panoramic suite with a sea view, and were given the wrong room. Fortunately they brought this up with staff immediately before they were able to check someone else into the room they SHOULD have been given (which was about to happen). I have been treated better and received more responsive service at cheap roadside motels. I am incredibly unimpressed with the Mondrian staff and would urge anyone thinking of coming here to consider...
Read moreWe arrived at the Mondrian after a wonderful 6-day stay at Oku Hotel in Cala Gració, with high expectations from the social media buzz and website presentation. Unfortunately, our experience did not live up to the 5-star rating the hotel claims.||Rooms|The rooms themselves are modern, stylish, and up to 5-star standard. Sadly, this level of quality does not extend to the rest of the property.||Shared Property Setup|The Mondrian and Hyde hotels share the same pool areas, which creates confusion and overcrowding. The setup feels chaotic and unrefined. For example, I witnessed guests smoking on sunbeds, leaving ash all over them—something I wouldn’t expect in a luxury property. The layout is maze-like, and the lifts are unable to cope with guest volume, leading to constant waiting.||Unpleasant Smells|Throughout our stay, we were periodically greeted by a sewage smell. It appears the hotel attempts to mask this with diffusers in the air conditioning, but the result is not pleasant.||Parking Charges|This was the first 5-star hotel I’ve visited that tried to charge £25 per day for parking upon checkout—something I’d expect to be included at this level.||Dining| • Lunch: Poolside menus are uninspired, limited to fried food and pizzas. The website promises variety, but both pool restaurants serve the same bland options.| • Dinner: We tried the Japanese restaurant once. While the food was decent, the service left a lot to be desired. After that, we opted to dine outside the hotel.||Pool Areas|The pool spaces are in need of renovation and fall far short of 5-star standards.||Breakfast - |Nice coffee |Cheap sausages |Rubbery eggs ||Overall Atmosphere|The hotel seems to be trying to cater to too many types of guests at once. It might suit a lads’ holiday, but it is not family-friendly and certainly not worth the price point. At a similar cost to Oku and 7 Pines, Mondrian is nowhere near the same standard.||There also seemed to be a heavy influencer presence around the hotel. Perhaps they are receiving complimentary stays in exchange for glowing reviews—but this does not reflect the reality we experienced.||Conclusion|While the rooms are nice, the overall experience was disappointing. We will not be returning and will stick to our usual hotels for future...
