This is the only place we dined in twice on our recent 7 night holiday. The warmest welcome and service from a small, friendly and dedicated team. The gentleman covering front of house on his own does a cracking job and is both relaxed and efficient. The kitchen staff are cheery and happy despite the cramped and hot conditions and that really translates to the food. And what great food we had! The glazed carrot starter was had on each visit, despite my husband’s limited liking of vegetables. For mains on the 1st night we had the pappardelle ragu and shrimp bao. Beautifully made and presented. I’m one of those annoying people who loves Italian food but doesn’t enjoy pasta so was delighted to see some great non-pasta options. I tasted the ragu though and it was rich with real depth of flavour. Hearty with perfectly cooked pappardelle. The bao were light and fluffy with the tastiest shrimp - a surprisingly tasty plate for its quite humble ingredients, that was also really pretty and delicately garnished. We rounded off with coconut panna cotta with lime zest and grilled pineapple. It could have done with more coconut flavour and been more generous with the zest but it was still a lovely wee dessert. 2nd night was our last night. Carbonara and the sea bream with ponzu dressing from the specials. The carbonara was just a bit too salty for his taste but the sea bream was perfect, light but filling. We skipped dessert to leave room for cocktails at Basoa next door. Everything was reasonably priced and comparable to others in the area. The bill being presented inside books was a nice touch and a lovely talking point. We enjoyed lots of great food in Cala Llonga but if we could only recommend one place, it would be Altrove. If you could just come and open up in Scotland, that’d be great! We can’t provide any sunshine but we do have...
Read moreWhen I travel, I have two personal rules: always eat local food and never visit the same restaurant twice. Altravia Ibiza had us breaking both of those—first by serving some of the best Italian food I’ve ever tasted (and yes, I’ve been to Italy), and second by drawing us back two nights in a row because it was simply too good not to return.
We stumbled upon this gem by chance. We were headed somewhere else but stopped to check out their menu posted on the wall. A friendly server appeared almost instantly, greeting us with a big smile and loads of positive energy and even handing us a business card. That interaction alone convinced us to give it a try, and it turned out to be one of the best dining decisions we made on our trip.
The food blew us away. Every dish was perfectly executed, full of flavour, and clearly made with care. The drinks were just as memorable, especially their signature Altravia Spritz with cava—absolutely to die for. If you go, make sure to start with the focaccia and chilli oil; it’s simple, but unforgettable.
On our second and final visit, even though the place was buzzing and the servers were spinning plates left and right, our server still took a moment to lean over the balcony and wave us goodbye as we walked back up to town. It was such a small gesture, but it really stuck with us and perfectly summed up the warmth of the experience.
If you find yourself in Ibiza, do yourself a favour and stop by Altravia. You might just find yourself going back...
Read moreThe food blew my mind! I can honestly say I have rarely eaten better and some of the dishes served were the best I've ever tasted. On a wet Sunday in Cala Llonga, four of us were working on a friends villa. We were dressed in scruffy old cloths, tired and hungry and popped out for a bowl of pasta. The restaurant looks unassuming, located on a lane leading to the beach. We were greeted warmly by one of the two chef patrons (x1 Spanish, x1 Italian), shown to the table and offered drinks and the menu. Then he suggested a few small sharing dishes to start and the days ‘special’ as the main. He was so enthusiastic, descriptive and knowledgeable that we were delighted to have whatever was suggested: Creamy cod fritters with aioli - light and cloud like Marinated anchovies - herby, lemony, delicious Eggplant on the flame - this was sublime. Layer after layer of flavours and textures I don’t know what the ‘special’ dish was called, but it was the best thing I’ve eaten. A pasta based paella type dish is the closest I can describe it. Thin, small pieces of pasta cooked in rich fish stock, with small cubes of perfectly cooked squid topped with prawns and dots of aioli. It looked homely, but was mind blowingly good. Followed by creamy tiramisu, a red wine poached pear with mascarpone and cannoli sitting on an orange reduction. Delicious wine suggestion too. If you are in Ibiza, please go, you won’t be disappointed and these two talented young men deserve...
