Clean and spacious appartments with excellent air conditioning for those wanting some escape from the midday heat. The beds are huge, being two single bed frames but one large mattress over the two so no uncomfortable bumps or gaps to fall into. Probably the most comfortable bed I've ever slept in at a holiday resort and I'd be happy with this in any hotel I've stayed in. Housekeeping keeps the place clean and tidy but not so much so where you find your personal things like toiletries bizarrely arranged in the bathroom (a pet hate of mine). There's not a huge balcony so if you picture spending the evening on there with a bottle of something, make sure its just the two of you. Any more than that will be a squeeze. I stayed all inclusive so never made use of the kitchen part of the appartment, other than to make a much missed decent cup of tea. Overall though, a really nice appartment and one I'd be happy to visit again.
The restaurant was good but was shouting out for some better organisation. The restaurant manager greeted everyone on arrival but never went off to seat anyone. New arrivals don't quite know how the system worked so wandered around looking rather self conscious. The tables are set for 4 and are quite small so being a party of 5 meant we needed two tables. The staff were more than happy to oblige and quickly found tables to push together so we could sit at one larger table. This still seemed a bit pot luck with so many other groups wanting to do the same. Other hotels I've been to have had the restaurant manager seating people on arrival which made newcomers feel much more at ease and made the whole process generally more organised. We ended up getting up for drinks in shifts to prevent anyone from "stealing" our table (which did happen the one time we didn't do that). The food was plentiful and varied with choices for someone looking for a more traditional style of dinner as well as chips and assorted nugget type things for the less adventurous. The more popular options were refilled quickly without the staff overtly getting in everyone's way. The show cooking corner was interesting with things like shark and tuna being cooked fresh to order. A nice addition. After a week I felt it got a bit "samey" but I think that's to be expected. What I ate was hot and tasty so not much to complain about. The daily chocolate fountain was a big hit with everyone.
The outdoor bar was great. Service was very prompt, the bar staff were generally friendly and polite and the drinks on all inclusive were very plentiful. The evening cocktail bar was a good hit but possibly attracted more people than it could accomodate. However, all good.
The location in the resort was first rate! Literally across the street from the beach steps and next to a spa for anyone wanting to go mad with inflatables or grab a couple of drinks to take to the beach. A 4-5 minute leisurely walk to the centre of the evening night life so again, all good!
Reception staff were friendly and helpful. All the information we needed to know on arrival was handed over very quickly, along with a little hotel guide book and we were in our room. There's a big bowl of tasty sweets on the counter to keep the kids occupied for the few minutes it took to check in. We had no dramas of any sort during our stay so didn't need to use their services again until check out. There was no problem keeping bags for our departure day and there's a room guests can use to shower and change in if you've got a late departure.
If I could give it 4.5 stars I would. Just dropped a star on the restaurant management and samey feel about the menu when eating 3 meals a day there. Would I go back? ...
Read moreWe recently spent five nights at the Prinsotel Alba & Spa as a family of four with two children aged 9 and 11. Overall, it's a beautiful, elegant hotel with exceptional housekeeping, and it boasts a fab location—close to plenty of shops and restaurants, and just a short walk from a clear, clean beach. However, there were a few points regarding the dining plan and services that future families should be aware of.||Cleanliness and Housekeeping (Near-Perfect Service!):||The hotel is immaculately clean, with one small exception: the stairways leading to the rooms needed sweeping and appeared to be the only area where the high cleaning standard was missed. That said, the housekeeping team do an otherwise absolutely incredible job. Our rooms were kept spotless, our towels were replaced every day, and all the amenities—the shampoos, conditioners, and body washes—were generously refilled, with ample supply for everyone. This team deserves huge praise for their dedication.||Pools and Spa Facilities:||The Spa facilities are lovely and a major plus. Regarding the pools, we visited in October (the final closing week of the season), which seemed to have an unexpected benefit: children could use the indoor pool at any time although originally we eere told it was 1.30-3.30, which was truly great! The weather wasn't good on one of the days, so having all-day access to the warm indoor pool was incredibly helpful and appreciated by the kids. The outside pool was, as expected for October, a bit chilly but still usable.||Dining (Half Board Feedback):||We were on the half-board plan. Breakfast was nice, offering the usual assortment: pastries, yogurt, eggs, fry-up items, and fun treats like churros and pancakes. As a vegetarian, I was happy to always find something substantial to eat. Dinner usually had something everyone could eat, but we found it got a bit repetitive after only five nights. We can imagine if you were there for a week or longer it could get very boring. We tried the sushi restaurant one lunchtime, but it was expensive and felt overpriced. We were very disappointed to discover after paying that we could have received a 20% discount on lunch and dining if we had mentioned we were hotel guests, but we were never informed of this policy. We ended up paying full price, which was frustrating and feels like a key piece of information that should be clearly communicated at check-in. ||Hygiene Concern:||A significant negative was the persistent hygiene issue with fruit flies. This wasn't just an isolated incident; the flies were visible over the fruit, cold food items, and breads during both breakfast and dinner service, which definitely needs immediate attention from management.||Disappointing Service:||The animation team didn't put a lot on for the kids (aged 9 and 11) in that final week, which was a bit disappointing as they would have still liked some entertainment.||Overall:||The Prinsotel Alba & Spa is a truly lovely hotel that served us well for our five-night stay. The location is fantastic, and the service, particularly the housekeeping and the all-day indoor pool access, was excellent. If you go half-board, be prepared for some repetition in the dinner menu, and make sure you ask for the hotel guest dining discount! We still had a great holiday and would recommend it to...
Read moreI`m going with a 2/5 and not a 1/5 as there are some nice places to drink away from the hotel. As a whole though this is the worst place we have stayed in Mallorca and certainly will not return.
We Booked and paid extra to take our own bikes in bike boxes. We were informed we had been placed on the THIRD floor. when I asked if we could move to a ground floor room was informed it was at 100% occupancy (it wasnt). I was then laughed at by staff as i struggled to carry our bikes up 3 flights of tight stairs. Not the best start to your £2k plus Holiday you have been looking forward to for 12 month......
Our room. The Kettle was full of mould and scum and would not boil. Took it to reception and within 5 mins was given a "new" kettle. It wasn't new that too would not bold. I went to the phone this time to call reception..... phone didn't work. I walked back to reception and they informed me if my phone was bust i should just use my mobile to call them, the number is on the internet..... oh yeah... Internet also not working in our area of the hotel. A 3rd kettle was given to us which turned out to be the first one i return ...... :-(
Now "entertainment" During the day when we tried to relax round the pool we heard the rep doing the family bingo dropping innuendos such as "69, you know what i mean" and other non family comments. The Bar was seriously overpriced, we went once and wondered why it was quiet. well 6 euros a drink and extremely loud happy hardcore dance music will do that. The Kids party was held in extremely poor lit outdoor area directly next to the pool. I was amazed non of the kids went in.
Breakfast was a half bearable experience. you had to queue up for coffee which was made infront of you. why could this not be on a machine ? usually the queue was 15 long while one lady (who was lovely) worked her hardest to serve everyone as quickly as possible. Food was the same every breakfast which wasnt too bad but many mornings you had to go hunting for plates as there was none.
The Sauna...... So this hotel is family friendly, we knew this when we booked so we expected to see kids, not an issue. BUT we were informed the Sauna was a nice relaxing place for adults to relax. Nope. We went one day after a long bike ride.... "lets treat ourselves to the sauna" there was 7 kids in the small "relaxation" pool jumping and diving about picking up pebbles from the edge of the pool throwing them in the water ?!? now there was a huge pool outside as well as 2 kids pools and 2 play areas so why are they allowed to run crazy in this areas as well ?
Will i be back to this hotel ? Not if i was given a free stay by the hotel and tour operator. I was fuming we spent so much to stay here when we could of gone and stopped in one of the other hotels we knew would be great. Honestly if you want to got to mallorca give this hotel / area a miss and try Alcudia, Muro, Pollenca and stop in a far better hotel, get a far better experiance and save yourselves some...
