Hostería Real de Zamora is a hotel housed in the 16th-century Renaissance Palacio de la Inquisición, built on top of a historic Jewish residence that still conserves its original mikve (ritual bath). It was commissioned by Don Francisco de Villacís y Ponce de León, the first Count of Villaflor, Minister of the Council of the Indies, President of the House of Trade, and city councilor of Toledo, Segovia, and Madrid.|Designated a historic-artistic monument, the palace features a cloistered courtyard, gardens that border the medieval city wall, Gothic sculptures, and Renaissance paintings attributed to or created in the workshops of artists such as Murillo, Zurbarán, Cerezo, Morales, Tristán, Ribera, Maíno, and Juan de Ribalta.|Located in the historic center of Zamora, beside the Romanesque Stone Bridge, the hotel offers 24-hour reception, a reading lounge, and a cozy café-bar.|The good thing: it’s cheap. However, the cleaning is not perfect: you can find a lot of ants in your bathroom and cobwebs in different places. The breakfast is cheap (just 8€ per person), but don’t expect something sophisticated- basic cheap industrial staff. The staff is efficient, but they need reforms, some new ideas (like bar on the terrace) and real cleaning in this place. The WiFi was also not good...
Read moreNobody likes to be deceived. In this hotel, I felt deceived and it wasn't pleasant. The hotel is beautiful, but they gave me two rooms that have nothing to do with the rest of the hotel. If you call to make a reservation: be careful! Ask beforehand what type of room you will get and if it's in the cloister. The rooms they gave us:||The level of comfort corresponds to a hostel or a guesthouse (and therefore the price should be much lower).|They were very dirty.|The mattress was very old and uncomfortable with springs that stuck out. Only one pillow despite being a double bed.|The bathroom was tiny (and dirty). There was only one towel.|The floor left your feet black, and in the other room, it left your feet full of white hairs.|The air conditioning units throughout the building are attached to the rooms and are very noisy.|The garden is full of papers on the ground.||Honestly, I don't recommend this hotel experience at all. I never make a complaint (I think it's the first time), but I'm really angry. The only thing that has been saved is the hotel staff who are very friendly. The problem is that "the property" is marketing rooms that they shouldn't be marketing and deceiving customers. The feeling is...
Read moreThe hotel is very picturesque next to the river and just next to the city centre. It's an old stone building with an amazing little patio and very well decorated. It gives you the impression that you're in a museum. The beds were comfortable and the sheets clean. Our room had a Jacuzzi (it was a bit noisy but working well). The staff was helpful and the views from the room great. I'd definitely recommend it, especially for couples. On the other hand, it 's a bit hard to park but there is a free improvised parking lot just two minutes walking. Also the rooms could use some renovation of the water pipes. We were waken in the middle of the night because someone from the room next door was showering and the noise was...
