This review is so hard to write, but I write in the hope it may help someone. When deciding to send our 8 year old son to camp for the first time, we searched for and read every review we could. We felt confident in choosing Les Elfes winter camp in Verbier, Switzerland, it seemed like an amazing opportunity for our son. While at camp, one of Les Elfes' counselors was playing with the campers and somehow dropped our son, causing a serious head injury. This happened in a theater room, at 9:30pm. Our son has zero memory from the incident; he has told us that this is what he was told happened by other campers there at the time. This happened on Tuesday night. He was checked by a nurse, who sent him to bed and decided he would be fine until the following day. He was brought to a doctor the next day, who said he had a mild concussion. Our son vomited twice that day (Wednesday). Our son called us that night, saying he wanted to come home, that his head hurt. No counselor or official had told us anything about his injury, we knew nothing about the incident. We thought he was just homesick, and convinced our child to stay. The next day, they brought him back to the doctor to check on him who then cleared him to ski. We talked to the COO, who is onsite at the camp, who said homesickness is normal, he had a mild concussion but the doctor advised us not to worry (Thursday). We finally picked him up on Saturday. My son had a large, soft bump on the side of his head, that was sensitive to the touch. We decided to get in touch with our own doctor, who advised us to go to the ER. After seeing multiple doctors, a trauma specialist told us he has a skull fracture.
There are so many ways that Les Elfes failed my son and us, as parents. We entrusted our 8 year old child to them, with safety as our main concern. His injury happened as the direct result of a counselor's actions. We should have been notified right after this injury. Our child threw up as a result of his "concussion." We should have been notified. When confronting the COO of Les Elfes, who we had spoke with when picking up our son, he was on complete denial of wrongdoing- claiming that the counselor may have acting improperly, but seemed entirely clueless about the other missteps.
We are absolutely devastated and horrified by this chain of events. I cannot even imagine what could have happened if my son had fallen or had another injury after the first. We have felt so guilty that as our son, suffering from a serious head injury, cried on the phone to us, we convinced him to stay at this camp. We relied on the information that way relayed to us by those in charge. Les Elfes completely failed my son, and definitely did not have his best...
Read moreAs an education agency, we are committed to guiding families from Japan through the details of the admissions process and providing continued support for students during their stay in Switzerland.
We sent 2 students (10 and 13 years old girls) to Les Elfes winter camp and we have received positive feedback from them as well as their families. Here are some comments about the 10-year-old participant. She's been studying in a Swiss boarding school since January. Due to the current Covid-19 related travel restrictions, she couldn't go back to Japan during spring break and decided to join the camp at Les Elfes. At the beginning she was feeling a little anxious about learning new routines and making new friends. But it didn't take long until she felt welcome and comfortable thanks to the friendly Les Elfes staff. (Thank you, Adam!) Besides, the school facilities and staff members all contribute to safety, support and well-being throughout her entire stay. She enjoyed skiing, of course, a wide range of fun activities, sports, excursions and evening programmes as well as language lessons. She made great friends and is already looking forward to returning in the summer.
We will continue to send our students to your camp. Thank you for your continued...
Read moreIt has been a really fantastic week. The Ski instructors at Les Elfes have really been able to help me boost my confidence in skiing since I am a total beginner skier. I really appreciate Instructor Theo, Albert and Giorgio for there guidance throughout the week. Other instructors -- Idris, Aliena and Eva have also been such wonderful people brightening up my day whenever I talk to them. Also, shout out to Maryna. She has been such a friendly staff at Les Elfes.
The stay there was awsome. The room was really clean and big enough for me staying with 2 other roommates. The food provided by Les Elfes was delicious. My time spent there is worth it and I will recommend any child who wants to learn skiing or any school organising ski trips to choose les elfes and learn from their ski instructors. They are one of the best instructors I have ever experienced. ❤️
Thank you once again Les Elfes for the fantastic Ski experience and stay. Really enjoyed my...
