Arsma Hotel — Hotel in Hualien City

We stayed from before and during the Hualien earthquake.

First view of the hotel, everything was great. Room was spacious as we booked the family room. Location was great. Facilities was very good. Breakfast and supper was delicious.

However, the earthquake happened. The hotel staff evaquated the whole building and guest. BUT THEY FAILED TO CALL ALL GUEST, US, AND MAKE SURE WE MOVED OUT. Only when our driver sent us back at 4pm that we knew that the hotel was evacuated. This is a MAJOR lapse in their safety. How could the have not know that not all guest has left the hotel?! This is a serious issue from the hotel!

To think the have the audicity to claim tht the moved us to a higher rating hotel, KKS hotel. When in fact, it is of a way...

Not a standout. Solidly middle of the road tourist hotel by local standards. Decent location, within walking distance from good night markets and seaside parks, however it is stuck in an alleyway. Parking is a bit tight. Lobby was clean but dated, and low staffed, but check-in was painless. Room surfaces were clean, but the carpeting did show some debris in the corners, and we found a loose hair band beside the hot water kettle. Amenities are rather scarce, even for a four person room they only allotted 2 cups and there was only single large bottle of combination shampoo/body wash in the shower + a separate travel sized conditioner tube. Love that the hotel is located very near (5-10mins walking distance) to Dongdamen Night Market, a small supermarket and a number of eateries around the area . We initially wanted to stay near Taroko which is the main aim of Hualien trip. Thankfully our private hire suggested this area.

The room is clean and spacious. This hotel also has a laundry and dryer machine which is so convenient for us to do inhouse laundry after almost a week of travelling in Taiwan.

Love their breakfast buffet that offers a wide range of local food and some western for the kids. They also have supper snacks every night at the lobby.. where you can also read/play board games. Loved our stay here and the concierge service...
