Golden Stone Hotel — Hotel in Kaohsiung

The guy at the front office speaks English very well. He was friendly and helpful. We booked a non-smoking room, but it smelled very heavily. He gave us directly another room and apologized. This room had a light smell, but it was acceptable. The size of the room is small, but enough for two. It was clean. Our room was located at the end of the corridor, so it was quiet. Not very soundproof, but luckily the other guests were quiet. Only one big towel provided and a small disposable towel and some amenities. The bed was comfortable (to European standards, not too hard), but the double bed has two single mattresses, which was a bit annoying in the middle. AC worked well, but you can't control the temperature, only the wind speed. For me it was OK, but some might find it too cold. The shower didn't had a curtain. Great deal a luxury stay for the budget traveler. Nice breakfast that was different for both days we were here. Typical Chinese breakfast cooked vegetable and protein dishes, fresh greens, rice porridge, and toast. No real western options. Room was nice enough although a few attention to details. Our queen bed as two twins pushed together, less than classy. No light switch near the bed made getting to bed an adventure. Wall paper and floors slightly peeling and could be a bit cleaner. The place is really small, the outlet is on the middle of the bed which makes it quite difficult to sleep while charging. Around midnight, there were guys partying in the other room making loud noises. Also, one time we ordered KFC delivery to the hotel and the sticker was ripped as if it was opened, unlike other times. I think the male employee on the reception just decided to open and see what's inside the bag because he wasn't so pleasant when we first checked into the...
