During my recent 4wks stay to Taipei, I had the pleasure of staying at the CHECK inn SELECT New Taipei SanChong Waterfront Hotel, and I must say, the experience was largely delightful. The hotel presents a refreshing standard of accommodation, especially when it comes to room size and cleanliness, a notable feat in an area where many local chains struggle with the persistent issue of mold. My room was equipped with a generously sized queen bed, perfectly accommodating for two guests, ensuring a comfortable and spacious stay.
The room's amenities met the expectations for standard lodging, although it was noted that there was a lack of a safe deposit box, which could be a slight inconvenience for those traveling with valuable items. However, the hotel excelled in maintaining a serene environment, with effective noise control measures that ensure a peaceful stay during the weekdays. The weekends did see a bit more liveliness, particularly with groups or families "joyfully" interacting in the elevator lobby, but it did not significantly detract from the overall tranquility of the stay.
A standout feature of the hotel was the front desk staff, whose youthful enthusiasm and exceptional service greatly enhanced my experience. Their attentive and friendly demeanor made for a welcoming and pleasant interaction each time.
The only considerable downside to my stay was the hotel's strict policy on check-in times. The inflexibility to accommodate an early check-in before the stipulated 3:00 PM mark, not a second sooner, was a bit of a letdown. For travelers arriving from long journeys or those in need of a bit more flexibility, this could pose an inconvenience.
In conclusion, the CHECK inn SELECT New Taipei SanChong Waterfront Hotel offers a commendable lodging experience with its clean, spacious accommodations, and outstanding staff service. While the lack of a safe deposit box and the strict check-in policy may be minor drawbacks, the positives far outweigh these issues. I would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a comfortable and hassle-free stay in New Taipei City, with the caveat of planning arrival times around the...
Read moreStayed for about 3 weeks in June 2024 in the family suite, rm 1901. Room itself was very well designed- lots of areas for storage, shower floors with innovative floor tiling for better grip. 2 bed, 2 bath, den area with desk and shelving, kitchen, dining area, living room, walk-in storage at entry, good size fridge with freezer, in-unit laundry. Some things could be better: although there was a kitchen with cooktop, there were no pots/pans, plates, bowls, utensils, etc. there was a dishwasher (rare for Taiwan), but the output piping was not connected to the drain and it ended up just flooding the cabinets. Clothing detergent was provided for the laundry. Loved having the washer/dryer in the room, but it was one of those small ones that could handle only small loads, and it was not friendly to clothing - Everything came out super wrinkled. Ended up just air drying after washing. Towels were replaced daily, Trash was emptied daily, and water/teas & toiletries also replenished daily. It seemed like there was also light cleaning performed daily. In general the cleanliness of the room could be improved. Dust still found in nooks and crannies. Loved the lighting in the room, the smart storage, button controlled curtains/shades, cold air conditioning, the views from the large windows, and cute robot delivery to the room. 2 elevators in the hotel, never had to wait too long for one. Location had pros and cons. Right across the street from the MRT station, and also across from the new Taipei Metropolitan Park. However, nothing much in the immediate vicinity in terms of food - almost always had to walk a bit or hop on the MRT. Good value for the size...
Read moreI recently stayed at this hotel for five days in Taipei, and unfortunately, my experience was far from satisfactory. While the location was great, the staff standards and customer service were very disappointing. Additionally, there were several issues with the hotel facilities that made my stay even more unpleasant.
One of the biggest problems I encountered was with the air conditioning in my room. On multiple occasions, the AC stopped working in the middle of the night, leaving me hot and uncomfortable. It took the staff close to an hour to provide me with a different room, which was a major inconvenience.
Another issue I encountered was with the drainage in my room. There was a foul smell coming from the drain, which made the room very unpleasant to be in. Despite bringing this to the attention of the staff, they did not offer any help or solutions to address the issue.
To add to my frustration, the cleaning was not well done, and the staff kept making excuses for the poor cleaning quality despite being requested multiple times. The overall standards of the staff and customer service were below par, with uninterested staff who were slow to respond to requests and often made excuses for not being able to fulfill them.
Overall, I would not recommend this hotel due to its poor facilities and unprofessional staff. The location may be convenient, but it's not worth the hassle and frustration of dealing with a faulty air conditioning system, a smelly room, and unresponsive and...
