Dingy, dirty, smokey.. And whatever you do, DON'T LET THEM CALL YOU A CAB. Although within 15 minutes of the airport, the unmarked "cab" charged 700 NT. We protested, but to no avail: in a hurry to catch our flight, and being held hostage by the driver, we paid it. With an early morning flight, and knowing we'd be dead exhausted in the wee early hours of the morning, we had booked the hotel for its proximity to the train station and the airport. Taiwanese cabbies are typically unswervingly ethical and you really can't judge a hotel in Taiwan by its exterior, so we gave the benefit of the doubt. But in the end after spending a night in a terrible, disgusting motel with hard beds and unscrupulous scammy staff we found this place to be the worst representation of Taiwan possible. Lesson learned, and now just a word to the wise: you can absolutely find something better in Taoyuan....
