The first room they gave me was so bad- still need some maintenance- it is small, smelly, broken tiles, broken line in bathroom, worn torn shower curtain. My colleague of a different race had the best room on the lower floor though we both paid the same amount, I asked why they put us on different floors, they just laughed. No explanation. They following day they moved me to another room - they room was much better. The tv channels were blocked, I could not watch the final rugby World Cup match when my country was playing. This room- the window by the passage was not closing, I had to sleep like that for 3 days, They kept on saying they will fix it or move me to another room, but nothing was done. The first room I complained about, they put another African person the following day, I was so shocked because there is no way that room could have be fixed. I could tell that even in this country people are treated differently. The day I checked out on my way to the airport, they phoned the taxi driver to say I did not settle the bill for accommodation- the bill I settled a month ago when I was making the booking. Before I left it asked if there is any documentation to sign or what- they said no. Later they...
Read moreWas in Arusha for a 4 day conference and the place came highly recommended by a colleague. Loved my stay at Green Mountain. The rooms were always clean and the staff were really helpful (I got my shirt pressed in about 5 minutes during the rather busy morning hours. They also recommended a great cab driver [a Mr. Florian Rweyemamu] that pretty much became my chauffer for the entirety of my stay in Arusha). Green Mountain is also within a short distance of the Arusha City Centre and other amenities including the nightlife hotspots. The breakfast was 4 or 5 star-esque and unexpected given the rather low rate I was paying. The only con I can recall is that the Deluxe rooms are close to the road and its a little hard to get some good shut eye with all the noise of moving vehicles. Perhaps this may be sorted by installing a better quality of tempered glass windows. I hasten to add that this ceased to be a problem after I was transferred to the executive wing after one night. 4/5 overall. Highly recommended and I...
Read moreWhat I like: The hotel is not far from the centre of the city. The room was big and comfortable. The hotel restaurant has a varied menu at affordable price which is good if you don't want to leave the hotel (pizzas are good). Friendly staff. The let us stay a couple of hours after check out.
What I didn't like: The shower drain was not working well. Wifi speed is not great. I asked reception where I could buy a local sim card, they said one guy from the staff could get it for me, what a nightmare, I gave him 20 dollars to buy two sim cards (Airtel) with an specific data plan. After a couple of hours waiting, he gave them to me and none of them worked. A lot of excuses, in the end, only one of the worked and I had to go to the store the next day to buy another sim card. Please do yourself a favor and go to the store (in the centre of the city not far from the hotel) and buy the card yourself, it's cheaper and without problems, we spent a lot of...
