Any positive review of this hotel was surely paid for, because there is no way anyone can have anything good to say about this hotel. It doesn’t deserve any stars at all and certainly not the four star rating it has. We’ve spent time in Zanzibar and figured we’d try a beach holiday in Dar es Salaam, and chose the Ramada as it’s a reputable brand… at least that’s what we thought. You first arrive to a dingy front desk, and the indoor public areas are poorly ventilated, so the whole hotel is humid and with a foul odor. We booked a Junior Suite and the first thing you see when you enter the room is this awkwardly positioned ironing board. The furniture, including the towels were visibly dirty and stained. When we complained to the duty manager, we were told that they would wash the sofa the next day. They ended up replacing the sofa with one that was less dirty… The food on the hot buffet was lukewarm at best, and the uniforms of the people handling the food were dirty and to add salt to injury they had flip flops on! We asked for an ice bucket with ice and that took an hour for us to receive it. The next morning, we asked for face cloths and those came after 2 hours. Breakfast was a disaster- cold food and dirty food stations. The people preparing the food don’t speak English so communicating how we wanted our food prepared was difficult. At this point we wanted to leave. We asked to speak to someone senior at the hotel as our stay was progressively getting worse; but as much as the front desk manager tried to help it literally got worse. The Christmas Brunch was mediocre at best, and yes the food was lukewarm AGAIN. We went back to our room and asked for 2 ice buckets with ice to chill champagne and that took another 2 hours. Then we asked for more ice and that took 3 hours. It’s no wonder they make you pay for the whole stay upon arrival and say it’s non-refundable because there is no way anyone would willing pay to stay here after experiencing this hotel. I’ve stayed in dozens of hotels around the world and this is literally the worst hotel I have ever stayed at. A total waste of...

I was with my family in the Ramada. First, I understand the time we are in and the services may be delayed, limited menu and an overall limited general services, but that does not mean or give excuses for an uncaring and rude staff. We first entered the Ramada to go through security with a stern “bags here” as if we were the reason for the whole security system and after going through, the exchange ended with a “your welcome”, as If that unwelcoming feeling was something to be thankful about. Reception was just “going through the motions” with overall disinterest. We got to our rooms, and they were nice with good beds and bath, but we wanted to see if we could get beach side rooms. Told 50$ a room and it’d be ready in 10 minutes. Great, but we would have not gotten the upgrade of we knew that it would instead take 3 hours to prepare the rooms. Again the location and building was good, but we had to repeatedly get and remind services for everything and anything including cleaning the rooms we payed to upgrade. Rooms finally ready and now it’s it’s Getting dark ( view is gone) dinner time, great, we had lunch and it was pretty good. The difference between lunch and dinner was the huge menu, which in normal context is good, but we asked if anything is unavailable (because most hotels during this time limit there menus in order to uphold quality); no okay. 20 minutes later, and we are in the lobby because the dining area is closed and drinks come out. An hour later, okay we aren’t waiting in the lobby anymore and say we’ll take dinner in our rooms. An hour and a half, it finally arrives. Almost 3 hours, this is why the menus at other places are limited. Food was cold ( of course) but also you could tell some of the seafood wasn’t fresh (soft, mushy, falls apart). Overall, the staff was cold, slow to action, and unsatisfying for any hotel experience. Any great location, room, food, building can be brought down by...

As an invited guest to a friend's birthday dinner. I was left apalled at how a place this exclusive and nice looking could excuse such poor service. How many things cpuld go wrong in a space of 4 hours?
It took 3 hours (19:30-22:35) to make food for a group of 6. We were the only people in the restaurant the whole time. No one came in before or after.
Once the food came, the tenderloin "steak" (it wasn't steak at all).. it was all bloody even after being told i wanted well done...
The steak was taken back to make it better and came back charred. It's incredibly tough to actually burn steak but they accomplished it. I was too hungry to wait another 3 hours so i endured it.
Billing time and items that were not taken appear on the bill. 2 juices had officially become 2 glasses of wine. (It took talking to management to have them realize this wasn't accurate)
I don't know if Mr. Joel who served us was having a bad day or was just tired but there is no need to be mad at customers (the only ones that night) who just want decent service. Nothing more. We weren't asking unreasonable things. We just wanted food and clean utensils to eat with. Nothing out of the ordinary for the prices being paid.
Mr.James and one other at the payment counter was nice enough to apologize and let me feel welcome for the first time in an establishment i had just spent the better part of what was supposed to be a birthday celebration night...as i was settling the bill.
Conclusion: to whom it may concern, improve service because your place has actually decent location advantages over so many. But no one can come back to a place they feel labored to even meet the basic standards. (If someone spends half a million in your establishment, they should at least leave glad that they will...
