Island Paradise Inn is located very close to Stone Town in a less touristy area, a 20 min drive from the airport. It is only 2 streets away from Darajani market, and a 15 min walk away from all other major attractions of Stone Town. Stone town is more touristy and a little white washed if you ask me, so we absolutely adored our stay at Island Paradise Inn. We walked everywhere and it was nice seeing the locals buzzing about, enjoying their meals, playing, shopping. There is a money changer right next door and a super market a few shops to the left (under renovation when I stayed). The rooms were clean and the air conditioning was perfect. They did our rooms everyday which we appreciated. The lighting fixtures and furniture give it a very colonial feel. We enjoyed having a balcony. The size of the bed was perfect for 2 people, we also had a TV to stream some of our favourite shows. Special mention to the manager, who ensured we were comfortable and taken care of at all times. He made us feel very welcome. The old man who runs the breakfast at the restaurant was also very nice, he'd always stop and chat with us, make sure we got good rest, had everything we needed. Breakfast menu was varied and not the same everyday. We ordered in room service twice and both times found the food was good. I was pleasantly surprised at the Indian masala tea they made very well. If you're not ordering in, I recommend Polazz grill right opposite for some street food or walking up to Darajani market where there are plenty of good, highly rated local restaurants. Especially Lukmaan, for some authentic Swahili food which we really really loved. If you would like cafes and ocean view restaurants, they're also walkable distance from this hotel. I would love to stay here again and would highly recommend to everyone as well.

Vorsicht!

The location is perfect. A few mins walk to Darajani. The balcony where the restaurant is on the fifth floor and you can see the ocean, the port and the city. The view is amazing. The rooms were clean, a bit spacious and the bed was perfect.

I had to write this review. I wasn’t able to stay at the hotel but this review is more for tourist to avoid this place. Keep in mind I will post picture of why I said no.

First I made reservations for three nights. Upon arrival I was told they did not receive my book confirmation from Expedia. I allowed them to see my reservation as I had proof in the Expedia application and email confirmation, but still the manager and staff said they had not received it, and they were book anyway and would not give me a room.

I notified Expedia and advised them of what took place. They also verified and then advised me the hotel cancel my book and that the hotel will keep the money. Expedia also advised they would call and see if the hotel would refund my money, however, Island Paradise were not answering the phone call from Expedia.

This is a very easy fraud and abuse case. They book a lot of people and keep the money and say they have no rooms.

Yes Expedia has an obligation in this situation. However, the manager and his staff are commenting fraud to get more money.

Be advise you are warned of the out come potentially when renting with this property.

Picture to come later.

I will post the chat with Expedia online along with the room cancellation.

I suggest stay at...

Traumatic Experience at Island Paradise Inn - Lack of Support and Transparency

Three years have passed since the traumatic incident at Island Paradise Inn, but the memories and emotional scars still linger. I was physically attacked by an individual on the premises, and the hotel's response was woefully inadequate. Despite my repeated requests to the manager Mr. Deepak (unaware of his current employment status with the hotel at this point), he refused to provide CCTV footage, prioritizing their image over my safety and well-being.

The lack of support and transparency from the hotel staff has made it difficult for me to move on from this traumatic experience. It's unacceptable that a hotel would put its reputation above the needs of a guest who has been victimized on their property.

I'm sharing my experience to warn others and to hold them accountable for their negligence. If you're considering staying at this hotel, be aware of the potential risks and the hotel's inadequate response to incidents.

Disclaimer: This review reflects my personal experience and the lasting impact it has had on me. I hope that by sharing this, I can raise awareness and...
