We stayed as a family at Mamamapambo for 10 days and it was heaven on Earth. We spent 30 days in Tanzania exploring Zanzibar, going on Safari, staying with some tribes, and our highlight was our 10 days at Mamamapambo. ||First of all, Jambiani is a quiet little fishing village that is quiet. We also stayed in Stones Town (loved it too for different reasons), and Kendwa (too noisy, not as charming) while on Zanzibar. For us, we loved this quiet little town, watching the tides go in and out, eating delicious food, and meeting locals. ||Mamamapambo is a tiny boutique hotel that has everything you need. We had the best room on the ground floor, furthest away from the pool. This room meant we had our own private patio overlooking the beach. It has two palm trees that provide nice shade for most of the day, a hammock that my daughter loved reading in, and a sweet cat that visited at night. The room was beautiful and far exceeded my expectations. It is amazing how they are able to keep it so clean when we were going in and out of it from the beach. The staff is wonderful, welcoming, attentive, and kind. The restaurant has delicious food which can make leaving this hotel optional, although I highly recommend walking around the town to get some culture. The breakfasts at Mamamapambo were delicious and such a treat: fresh fruit, instead of coffee we got hot chocolate made with premium chocolate, an a big menu of options, a bread basket, and a cup of fresh juice that changed every day.||We had a couple of hiccups during our 10 day stay (electricity going out, bathroom flooded), but the hotel staff was responsive and did their best to resolve the issues as quickly as possible. ||We would walk the beach every day. You could see the women tending to their seaweed farms, see children running around at school, see monkeys in the trees, or look for sea urchins shells (our favorite).||This town is small, and if someone tries to sell you a boat tour from there, they are from that village. We were lucky enough to meet Hamis on our first day, and he took us on a walking tour when the tide was low and showed us all sorts of sea creatures I've never seen before, and told us about his childhood growing up in Jambiani. We also ended up doing two boat tours with him, a village walking tour that included visiting a local village school (be prepared to be amazed), and attended a festival in a neighboring town. Booking directly through someone is often more economical than booking online, through a travel agent, or a hotel. For example, we did a full day boat tour for 3 of us for $130 total. ||Anyhow, book Mamamapambo if you can and stay...

This charming boutique hotel, nestled directly on the pristine white sands of Jambiani Beach, offers an intimate and authentic Zanzibari experience that’s hard to beat.|From the moment we arrived, the warm hospitality of the staff made us feel right at home. The manager Giuseppe and the whole team, including Suzanne, Josephine & Hamisi were exceptionally friendly, attentive, and went above and beyond to ensure every detail of our stay was perfect. Their care was genuine and heartfelt.|The hotel itself is a gem, with only six beautifully decorated rooms that blend traditional African style with modern comforts. The room was spacious, clean, and featured a large four-poster bed draped with mosquito nets, a private veranda, and a generous bathroom with a powerful shower. The hotel’s design, with its thatched roofs and lush tropical gardens, creates a serene and rustic ambiance that instantly puts you at ease.|The food at Mamamapambo was a highlight. Jambiani is a quiet fishing village, and the hotel’s beachfront setting offers endless opportunities for long walks on the powdery sand towards south coast or towards Paje & Bwejuu to the north; or swimming in the calm, turquoise waters during high tide. Low tide reveals fascinating rock pools teeming with marine life, perfect for exploration. Read moreThe Hotel was very very nice with only 6 rooms. So it’s very familiar. The manager asked us every day if everything is ok. He was very attentive and friendly. Also the staff was so friendly and courteous. We had Room 1 with sea view and it was perfect. The room was so nice, with everything what you need. We had a small dressing room, a king size bed which was very cozy but a little bit short (I‘am 1.75 and I think the bed was 1.90), a big bathroom with two washbasins, a very nice terrace with two chairs and a nice hammock. In the night you can fall asleep with the sound of the sea. The room was perfect!! The breakfast was incredible delicious, first every day a different kind of fruits or fruit salad and after that you can choose between Omelette or different kinds of very lovley oatmeals. For drinks fruit juice, coffee, and tea. 3 minutes away from the hotel there is a small shop where you can buy Drinks, Cookies or some other stuff (if you leave the Hotel, you have to go left and where the big palm stands you have to turn right and after that left and there is a little Shop). The drinks in the hotel are a bit expensive. Outside you can buy a Coke or a soda water for 1.000 TZS and in the hotel you have to pay 2-3 $. Also the food in the hotel is more expensive than outside and the amount of food is too little. But we would recommend this hotel and would definitely come back...
