Equalia Restaurant — Restaurant in Unguja

We decided to have lunch here based on the previous good reviews. Although the prices are very reasonable, we were quite disappointed.

The iced coffee was nice & cold, but with a lot of chocolate sauce, so it was more chocolatemilk than coffee..

We had ordered chicken and beef burgers, for which we had to wait over an hour (!!) even though we were almost the only onea there… Then, when we got the food, the chips were not even fried and super soggy, not edible. The burger had good flavour, but even stacking the buns right was hard (I had 2 bottoms, my partner 2 top buns..)

Also, after our complaint about the chips, no apologies made nor solution offered.

The place looks nice and staff seems friendly,...

We have waited for 1 hour 30 for our food even though the waiter said it would only take 30 minutes but overall the food was good :

We took mozzarella sticks which weren’t really pretty and a little bit too oily but overall really good Then we took vegetable curry, it was good but overspiced Then we took a Sea food wrap, it was perfect but the chips were too oily and the oil itself wasn’t good My brother took a chicken wrap wasn’t bad but not so good and lastly my father took a chicken and beef and eggs with chips (he doesn’t remember the name), he said that there wasn’t any beef but it was fine, not bad nor good

The ambience was wonderful, there was music and being in front of the sea...

The coffee is instant powder for $2, which is a joke.

The beef was as tough as rubber and they give you blunt knives.

The chicken was so dry that I struggled to swallow it.

The waiter said he will talk to the "chef". I don't think it is a real chef.

This restaurant's prices are ridiculous for the bad quality food.

I suggest you eat at local restaurants nearby with good quality food for cheaper prices. I only had 2 meals here and decided not to support them further.

The included breakfast is mediocre akso with instant coffee. All other hotels have real ground coffee.

This place was my worst experience of my 5 weeks...
