I had a good time at Homeland. It is located near the road and accessible. The area is just a motorbike away to Nungwi beach, Aquariums, beach hotels and so much more. One can do a lot of activities around Nungwi,Kendwa ,Fukuchani and Kiwengwa. I loved their breakfast and on my last day,I forgot my tripod at Nungwi and remembered it on my way back heading to the ferries. I contacted Mzushi the owner and he told me he was going to Dar es Salaam in a few days and that he will bring it to me after 2 days. I was to be in Dar by then. Unfortunately,he also forgot it and I just knew that it was the last time I'd see my tripod. A few days later, a fellow Kenyan contacted me, telling me that Mzushi gave her my tripod and she was travelling with it back to Kenya. I couldn't believe it. So I gave her my details and she left it for me at the bus station in Mombasa,Kenya. That was so thoughtful and it touched my heart. I'm here to say that my tripod is safe and sound with me and Mzushi gave a fellow traveler to pass it on to me in Kenya. Because of that, when I go back to Nungwi,I'll definitely go back. Highly recommend for those looking for budget friendly accommodation near the main road where daladalas are available to anywhere in Zanzibar and a lot of activities to do nearby. Thank you for having me Mzushi!

My friends and I found this place on hostel world and ended up staying for 3 nights before heading to Paje. The property was very welcoming: awesome host, paintings, bright colors on the walls, plants all around, hammocks, nice furniture, it had a very DIY touch to it making you feel more comfortable there. It also had free a fast wifi all over the premises. We stayed in the dorms, which were very nice for African dorm standards. The hostel even had running hot water which was the first and last time we had that on our trip in Tanzania. The hostel is located about 15 minutes by foot from the beach, but Crazy Man (the owner) always offered to drive us there and back free of charge. Breakfast was included in the hostel price and was honestly the best we had during our entire journey through Tanzania. He also offered to buy beers for us at a local price, and made a huge feast for us one night for only 10k TSh. In sum, we had an excellent stay here. Crazy Man is an amazing host, he really enjoys what he’s doing and his generosity and kindness is what made this a very special place for us.

For the past three days, I have been staying at Nungwi Backpackers. I originally came for just one night, hoping for a better experience than my previous stay elsewhere in the same area, and I am so happy to be here! The breakfast is more than good, the hostel has a great vibe, and the rooms are clean. The owners are incredibly welcoming and have a real attention to detail. They didn’t even ask too much about our bad experience elsewhere, instead, they simply focused on providing the best experience they could. I really respect that attitude, less talk, more action. There’s also a kitchen available for guests, and the staff is super friendly. And of course, I have to mention Mr. Crazy Man… he’s amazing! He always has great information and knows exactly how to help or guide guests with anything they need. This has been such a great experience that we ended up staying two extra nights. Definitely worth it. Well done! Thank you!

I had booked a room with AC and when I arrived, the host greeted us at the door in an odd manner, saying "hello I am crazy man welcome" in a way that seemed strange. Unfortunately, the situation only got worse from there. He didn't show us our room and instead started talking about a recent power outage that had affected the property. He suggested that we take a different room away from the direct sun, and showed us a room next to the public toilets that had no windows, only mosquito netting. The outside area was noisy, with people talking loudly on the benches outside, making it feel like we were sharing the room with them. The smell from the toilets made the room unpleasant to be in.

When I asked to see the room we had originally booked, the host was rude and raised his voice. My wife was convinced that the cooler room next to the toilets was still acceptable, but just five minutes later, the host told us that we would have to pay the full amount for our nine-day stay. I questioned this, as the room we were now in did not have AC, and he argued that he would be charged by the booking site for the AC room we had originally booked. Unfortunately, we could not agree on a resolution and decided to leave.

Overall, I was disappointed with the accommodation and the way we were treated by the host. It was a frustrating and unpleasant experience, and we decided that it was best to find alternative accommodation.

*Before we left, the host informed us that he would mark our reservation as a no-show on the booking site to ensure that we would not be charged. I'm grateful that he followed through on this, as it was a small but appreciated gesture after the disappointing experience we had at his...

So i came to this place accidentally cos the place i wanted to go was full, but i when i stepped in i felt the positive vibe instantly. The chilling area was awesome people were nice and Crazy man offered me coffee and tea right away. They showed me my bad which was very comfortable and big, so i even could keep my stuff next to me on the bed. The place were safe and clean but clean in a dorm is not the same as in a 5 star hotel, but for me and for the price it was perfect! And as Crazy man always say:"This is Africa!" ||||What i also liked a lot, that even though outside was very hot, inside the dorm was always perfect temperature to sleep. Even daytime. Crazy man was very helpful! There was nothing he didn't do just to make you feel comfortable! If you want to go for snorkeling or any programs i recommend you to ask him before you make decision, cos on the beach you will meet with various prices! Probably he'll get you the best deal. Beakfast was awesome(included in the price) and occasionaly he also cooked dinner for very reasonable price which was very delicious (good restaurant quality) but much cheaper and much more fun!||Crazy man is not jusy crazy but i think he is wise as well and understands life. He is very easy guy. And as he said :"If you are easy life is easy!" The beach is about 15 min walk or you can take the motorcycle for 2000ts if you want to avoid the dirt roads. I don't mind walking and feel the local vibe, so i was walking all the time. Although the fridge was not working all the time we could use the kitchen. So overall i only can...

Well where to start..so I stay here for one week.. I noticed some money had been stolen from my case while staying in the dorm room, so I notified the manager, he then told me the cleaner left 4 days ago for Ramadan as that's when my money was last seen. It was 200 USA dollars I had been saving for safari as got told it'd better to pay that way. Then the Owen came and told me the cleaner had been off for one week which was a lie, I had seen her with in that time, the owner then went on to tell me its my fault I should keep all my money on me all the time, bare in mind I'm a female traveling solo. I met a German girl staying in the dorm also but she had left at thus point so I messaged her as I knew she had dollars aswel for the safari, hers was gone also. I went to the police and made a report but they did call me back. Then the Owner messaged me yesterday 3 days after I left saying I can stay with him gor free next time and then he went on to give me abuse again saying its my fault ect. I've had that money in my case for 3 months as ny safari was last, nothing happened. The place is well protected no one could of got in so its definitely an inside job. I can't believe the customer service of this place, not even an apology of the Owner he even said to me its hard to prove its his staff. Never known a hostel like it,, so bad. Plz if you stay here keep your money on you...
