Great vibe for Christmas Eve, buzzing and decor tikki chilled vibe on point! Only popped in for a drink and loved it. Manager gave a recommendation that he eats "every day".
So we came back two days later to try it out, catch of the day was tuna. Moved from communal table to a normal one for back support for my elderly father, asked for the table to be wiped? cleaned? Have you got a cloth 3x in those ways. I gave up! When they went to put the mats down, I asked again, so we won't have a clean table? There was several pieces of rice all over the dark wood table, hard to miss! Server smiled and set the table anyway and then brought napkins 🤷🏼♂️
Asked my father how his tuna was, 'it's ok, not much taste', he had it medium rare. The wedge of lime helped it from being dryish and bland along with several shakes of the clumped up salt. I might add, this is the first table as you walk in, wouldn't be a great welcome to anyone.
I asked the waiter if the fresh fish masala chilli was Tanzanian or Indian, I like to experience food from the origin as I'm in the food n travel industry (6th time in ZNZ) he assured me it was and it was the tuna.
Let's just say, no cumin garlic ginger or chilli was in this dry bland slop on a slate, that was of a pretentious size, a good amount of tuna steak though dry, possibly left overs. The clunked salt shaker and pepper grinder did nothing so I asked for some sort of chilli sauce to give it some flavoring I said to waiter. It helped, but not in a masala way. The four pieces of veg were charred perfectly yet no taste, no seasoning.
Of course when asked, I passed my comments on that there was no taste and that's why I asked for chilli (I would bottle that up as it's off the chart flavorful with a bloody good kick), but that was not masala or anything chili orientated. He smiled and said 'oh, so good?' I explained again no, it had no taste, no flavor. 'Ok good good'. I gave up.
It's funny, the whole time the Roma manager was on his phone and not following up on the staff or guests. Then who I can only believe to be the other owner, walked in HIS BOXER SHORTS across the dining area and behind the bar!!!
The special on the board (keep in mind they advertise, 'ask for our local cuisine dishes prepared by the local chefs',) was coconut rice spinach n beans. 🤷🏼♂️ wow inspiring.
I hope they pick up on this for the big expansion as it could be something else. Maybe complacency has set in a little too much. But $12 for the slop and $11 for a over cooked piece of tuna, no wonder there is...

I don't even know where to begin with how terrible our experience. We arrived hopeful for a nice meal, but what we got was a masterclass in how not to run a restaurant.
After being seated, we waited a full two hours for our food to arrive. TWO HOURS! Not a single appetizer, not even a bread basket. Just endless, agonizing waiting while our stomachs growled louder than the background music.
The staff? Utterly unprofessional. When we finally managed to flag someone down to inquire about our order, we were met with shrugs, eye-rolls, and vague excuses. There was no apology, no attempt to rectify the situation, and certainly no sense of urgency. It felt like we were inconveniencing them by daring to ask for the food we ordered.
The entire situation was handled terribly. There was no manager visible, no one seemed to be in charge, and the communication was non-existent. We eventually gave up and walked out, completely flabbergasted by the sheer incompetence.
Save yourself the time, money, and immense frustration. Do NOT go to this restaurant. There are plenty of other places where you can actually get food and be treated with basic human decency. This place is a hard...
Read moreAvoid this restaurant at all costs. What should have been an enjoyable meal turned into a nearly 3-hour ordeal of poor service and kitchen mismanagement. The Problems: • Drinks never arrived - We waited over an hour just for our beverages • Menu availability disaster - Out of our 8 ordered dishes, they told us 4 weren’t available, but this information came in waves throughout the night rather than upfront • Endless delays - Food finally arrived after almost 2 hours, with some dishes served cold • No accountability - Staff showed no genuine apology for the multiple failures • Inadequate compensation - Only offered a measly 10% discount despite the terrible experience Timeline of failures: • 5 minutes in: First dish unavailable • 1 hour: Still no drinks • 1 hour 15 minutes: Told 2 more dishes unavailable, plus the one we kept trying to reorder • Nearly 2 hours: Food finally arrives, some cold This restaurant clearly has serious issues with inventory management, kitchen efficiency, and staff training. The lack of genuine remorse from management made it even worse. Save your time and money -...
