I stayed at Fern House for a little over a month while training at Tiger Muay Thai. I was told by others who had been to Tiger not to stay at the camp and I am very pleased that I made the decision to stay elsewhere. During my time there I was able to see several of the other places that friends were staying out and I did not find anything that compared to the value of Fern House. I got to Fern House at 2am upon arrival and the staff was up and ready to greet me which I found very kind. The room I stayed in was very large, well-appointed and clean. Flat screen TV, desk, chair, safe with lock, large bed, plenty of bench space and a place to hang clothes, fridge with freezer, moving towel rack so that you can dry your hand wraps or hang clothes, patio furniture, aircon w/remote, very clean and modern bathroom. The grounds are outstanding...beautifully landscaped, they are a haven for butterflies, cute lizards, frogs, squirrels and even some beautiful birds. It's very tranquil and zen. The pool is also very beautiful and sits under tall, shady trees. It is very clean, just like the rooms and the grounds. There is a beautiful, outdoor kitchen if you want to cook. Lots of books to borrow and a communal computer. As I mentioned earlier the staff/owners are very nice people and are extremely helpful whenever you need anything...they all speak great English as well. The laundry service is well-priced and everything comes back smelling fresh and perfectly folded. There was nothing better than coming home from a day of training to a freshly cleaned room and clean laundry waiting for you! They also sell bottled water which is nice because it's a chore to lug bottles from the store. My friends staying at other places had horror stories about ant invasions, aircon going down, springs poking through mattresses, etc...none of which I had to deal with during my stay at Fern House. It is conveniently located down the middle of the road...half way between Tiger Muay Thai and Phuket Top Team and right next door to Dragon Muay Thai. This means it's also right in the middle of all of the restaurants and nothing is too far a walk. You are surrounded by restaurants that it's difficult to choose where to go sometimes. There is a travel booking place across the street, as well as a convenience store, a pharmacy and an ATM. I never really found too many reasons to leave the street other than to go to the beach. I highly recommend going to the botanical gardens right down the road...they are very beautiful. Oh...one other thing I liked is that they have locked gates that they close at night (all guests have their own key). Although it's very safe in this area, I felt an extra level of comfort with the gates being locked at night. I hope they have room for me during my...

Read moreAir con works well, wifi is fast, fridge works well, unlike 'The Blue Hotel', which their fridge was pooling with water. There are bars on the windows & the gate is closed at 10pm. We felt very safe at all times. ||Walking distance to unit 27, tiger, Muay Thai & Titans gym. Very Close to nommy frozen yogurt. Next door to Cocoville. Tip: Go to 'Tony's' for the cheapest Thai meals. ||Mosquitoes were not a problem. The pool was clean and large with some shade and sunny spots for sun baking or laying in the shade during the day. Shower pressure was fine, with instant, continuous hot water. Bathroom clean. Able to flush toilet paper down, instead of binning it. Outdoor kitchen was great, but we never used it. Birds sounded lovely in the morning and no loud street noise or noise complaints. Very quiet. No excessive bugs & no pests. ||Arriving in Chalong we were staying in another hotel, 'The Blue Hotel'. We first saw Fern House online, also on trip advisor & checked out the photos for both, 'The Blue' & 'Fern House'. From this, even with great reviews we were a little hesitant about Fern House & so ended up booking The Blue. ||After seeing Fern house retreat on arrival in Chalong, we decided to move. The atmosphere, the staff and the 12 cats were friendly and inviting. Fern house retreat is just so quiet and relaxing with the grounds and the pool are lovely to just stare out into during some down time. My wife was worried about Mosquitos at fern house, especially near the pool. We can safely say we had no problems at Fern House with Mosquitos. We had the pool all to ourself every single time. It was only a few steps from our room & even though 4 other rooms were occupied during our stay we didn't not hear them or nearly see them for the duration. ||*only downer. (Which didn't effect us anyways) There is a lock box but is is not fixed to the ground and it has a small pad lock on it that could be easily cut. Unlike a actual safe that has a passcode, is hidden in a cupboard and is bolted to the ground. This is the only thing we found useless. If a thief was to break and enter they could just pick the wooden lock box up and walk out, knowing it must contain your most valuable items. ||Next time we will be...
