I should have read more reviews before I booked, although they reply diligently a lot of the issues brought up in the reviews were present in my stay. It’s not awful.. no bed bugs/nothing stolen, but it ain’t good at all.
A/C is not strong enough to keep up with Phukets hot weather. It’s mostly overcast and rainy weather in Phuket right now, and it’s alright as I sleep, but as it gets hotter in the morning, I’m usually waking up with a sweat.
They have 4 pillows which is nice, but the firmest of which is as soft as a marshmallow, the others were probably the same but used until your head just sinks right onto the bed.
Shower can’t hold a consistent temperature, I wouldn’t call it a cold shower but it’s not comfortable. They have two soap dispensers, the white one is okay.. the blue one comes out in clumps and is unusable if not gross.
They only clean the room every other day, god forbid you’re trying to take a nap when the cleaner comes, you better wake up because if not you could go up to 3-4 days with one tiny trash can, dirty dishes and two towels (no face towel provided).
Pool is a super long lap which is great if you’re trying to get a work out in, but is full of flies and stuff, not awful, I swam everyday but it could use a much more regular cleaning.
And the cherry on top is that on my last day I forgot my key card and got scolded by some sassy teenager they have working the front desk. She rolled her eyes when I told her at the desk, she then came upstairs and let me in to my room and snapped at me “don’t forget your key next time” as she turned around and stormed off .. and not in that cute, thai - teasy way. As a grown man, paying customer who could be her dads age, I really didn’t appreciate that after a really mediocre stay.
This place has nothing to do with Muay Thai, they don’t have a bag, or a ring or anything of that nature. They have like 3 pieces of workout equipment which is bizarrely placed in the hotel lobby.
The cleaning staff seemed polite and eager and they did a good job when...
Read moreI enjoyed my stay Marina House a lot.
If I could, I would actually rate it like 4.3-4.4/5 because there were a couple of things that could be improved, and I did have a few smaller issues here and there but the staff resolved them.
I stayed for just over a month.
Lots of positives:
Building feels very clean Beds are very comfortable Aircons works great No weird smells or anything (which does happen at some places) Bathrooms are modern and well-lit I stayed in 2 different rooms and both got lots of natural light (I stayed on both sides facing different directions) I could hear very little noise from other people or rooms (I was on floor 5) The pool is massive and looks well maintained Staff were friendly and I got to see the same faces over and over They have a mini gym with a couple of weights, treadmill, etc Rooms have nicely sized desks Couldn't ask for a better location, 2 minute walk from 7-11, great restaurants, few more minutes to gyms, etc
But there were a few draw backs:
The first room I stayed in for just a week, actually had a door joining to the other room (I'm guessing this is for families traveling together). But this meant I could hear so much of my neighbour watching TV at 3am, listening to music, etc. (Just unlucky with the neighbour). When I extended my stay, they moved me to another room that didn't have this, and that was very quiet, I couldn't hear anything from my neighbours
They have this big nice lounge space, almost like a office/breakfast area, lots of natural light, and would have been amazing to sit on my laptop a bit there but there are no plugs anywhere that I could see. Just seems odd (but maybe they don't want people sitting there on their laptops)
Getting my one issue resolved was a little slow (I also could have also followed up better) but it got resolved and they made it up to me when I extended for the 2nd time :)
Overall, highly likely you'd enjoy your stay here as well (and I personally would...

I’ve been coming to Soi since 2017 and have stayed at several hotels, including the original Blue Hotel and Anchan, which has always been my go-to. Since Anchan was sold out, I decided to try Marina House Muay Thai.
The hotel has a cool, industrial-artistic vibe—almost like a stylish jail—with shared spaces for working, eating, and working out. Since I’m here primarily to train and relax, I don’t mind if a place isn’t overly fancy.
When I checked into my room, it was generally put together but not properly cleaned—the floor hadn’t been mopped, and there was a stain on my blanket. After mentioning it to the front desk, they immediately apologized and had everything cleaned thoroughly, which I appreciated.
The AC units are quite loud, but I found a workaround by using the one in the main area and keeping my door open. However, the real issue was with the cleaning staff—they were inconsistent. Some days they did a fantastic job, while other days it felt like they barely cleaned at all, even when I tipped them.
Another frustration was my leaking toilet, which happened twice. Despite politely asking for it to be fixed, it remained an issue.
Overall, the hotel isn’t bad, but it’s showing signs of neglect. Unlike long-standing hotels like Anchan, where the quality of care is evident, Marina House seems to be struggling with maintenance and staffing. Management really needs to get the cleaning staff on the same page or hire more people to keep up with demand.
I wouldn’t say it’s a terrible place to stay, but given the inconsistency, I’ll be looking...
