This was a really nice hotel stay. I give it 4 stars for 1 specific reason: Lack of consistent hot water. It would come for 30 seconds and then go lukewarm to cold and then the cycle would restart. The water pressure also wasn’t great but that I can try and understand.
The other issue we had is that they would only give me 1 room key per room. It was really annoying because we needed the room key to keep lights on and ac running. So if someone in the group wants to stay out late, we had to wake up the person in the room to get in. It didn’t make any sense.
Overall, minus the shower situation, this was a really nice hotel. The pillows were nice and soft and the mattress was comfortable. We got the family room, 2 bedrooms and it was huge and did the space justice. I love that they give slippers for everyone in the room. The air conditioning was located in every room so it was nice that we could control based on individual preference. They also provided ear swabs and shower caps. It came packaged in recyclable materials, love that awareness. The shower gel was really nice and didn’t dry out my skin unlike other hotel soaps. The breakfast is 100% worth the add on. They had so many great options and since we were vegetarian, they made us fresh vegetarian breakfast at our request. The pool is gorgeous and they have live music there too.
One thing to be aware of. They asked for 2000 baht (~$67 USD) per room as a deposit but only took cash and forced us to use the ATM if we didn’t have enough cash. At time of checkout, they will ask for the room key and check the room before returning the deposit. If the room smells bad, they will take your deposit as a cleaning fee.

Read moreHotel Manager Nui is rather aggressive than accommodating. Staff are much better.
They're asking for my family's passports as they mentioned it's Thai Law. Purpose for this is to track you if there's an accident or fire in the hotel... manager Nui explained.
As I don't just share my personal information to anyone, I hesitated to provide them my passport (and my family). Instead, I asked them to provide me copy of the Law for my own review. Finally after Nui kept barking, I showed them photo of our passports. I'm still waiting for them to provide me copy of the Thai Law.
Update upon checkout: They showed me a wrong policy. It's called TM30 in Thailand. A resident certificate applied by the...
Read moreI stayed at this hotel for my vacation trip for 3 nights. The hotel is newly renovated with nice and cozy decorative furniture. Love the 6-stars graded soft bed and all the pillow and blanket set. The honeymoon suite is very luxurious with a spacious living and dining zone and seperate bedroom. Bathroom comes with the bathtub. You can see Doi Suthep from bedroom. Hotel staff were very helpful and service minded.
First I was a little worried about the location as it is not in the middle of the old city but actually it takes only 10 mins by car which is very convenient. I'll definitely go back to this Raintree hotel again if...
