Extremely Disappointed with Bug Infestation in Two-Bedroom Villa!!!!!!!!!
I recently had a highly unsatisfactory experience at this hotel, and I feel compelled to share my disappointment with others. My friend and I booked a Two-Bedroom Pool Villa (Room 202) for our stay, and initially, everything seemed fine. We anticipated some bugs, considering the presence of a pool, so the presence of mosquitoes and moths didn't bother us on the first day.
However, on the second day, after leaving the doors closed while we were out, we returned to find a disturbing sight. One of the rooms, which had two single beds, was infested with ants—around 20 of them! Shocked and frustrated, my friend took pictures and sent them to me for assistance. I promptly contacted the front desk via their mobile app, starting off with a polite request to address the problem so that we could continue with our stay.
The staff member arrived at our villa, and initially, his attitude seemed acceptable. However, I sensed a change in demeanor when I showed him the infested bed. Suddenly, he adopted a much more apologetic tone, which bothered me as it felt insincere. His initial doubt, expressed with a curt "Show me," made me question whether he believed my complaint in the first place. Nevertheless, he left the villa to find a solution.
After a few minutes, he returned and informed us that the cleaning staff had already finished their shift. He offered to move us to another villa (Room 201), which we reluctantly accepted, despite our exhaustion and the inconvenience of repacking. Our patience wore thin when we opened the door to Room 201. To our horror, a cockroach scurried across the floor, which we had to eliminate ourselves. To add insult to injury, while sitting in the living room, we noticed a gecko wriggling on the table. At that moment, I was livid. How could they assign a villa with such issues to a guest who had just encountered an ant infestation in their bed? Shouldn't basic checks be in place to ensure a pleasant experience?
I communicated my frustration through the mobile app, and upon learning that the second villa was even worse, the hotel offered us a complimentary breakfast as an apology. However, I declined this gesture, as I refused to accept any benefits in exchange for silence. Frankly, I believe that anyone who visits Pattaya and books a five-star villa expects something special and a chance to relax. Unfortunately, our experience on this occasion was far from that. To make matters worse, it was my friend's birthday, and the hotel managed to ruin everything.
I made it clear to the staff that I intended to share my negative experience with as many people as possible and ensure that their CEO was aware of the situation. They informed me that their manager would speak with us upon checkout, but to my dismay, I received nothing more than a brief apology from the front desk staff. Additionally, while waiting for our pre-booked car to take us back to Bangkok, a hotel staff member repeatedly offered their own transportation service for a fee, despite my clear refusal. This persistence was both annoying and raised suspicions of potential commissions involved—an unacceptable practice for a reputed five-star hotel.
In conclusion, I strongly advise against staying at this hotel if you are not a bug enthusiast. The lack of proper cleanliness and attention to detail, coupled with the indifferent and insincere response from staff, has left me deeply dissatisfied. I am determined to spread the word about my negative experience and report it wherever possible. It is my hope that the hotel takes these issues seriously and takes immediate steps to rectify them, ensuring that future guests do not have to endure such...
Read moreEver stayed at a place where you really wanted to like and enthuse about it but all those little details put you off? Well X2 (meaning Cross Too) Oceansphere fits that description.
First thing was the booking clearly said nothing to pay until check-out; normal situation. However had to pay for the room at check-in. Not a big problem but little things like this are annoying. Also no temperature checks for COVID
Upon arrival the room was ready and clean.
Sad to see that except for some drinking water everything else was chargeable. Mini-bar I understand is chargeable but basic toiletries?? Was almost expecting to be charged for the toilet paper. This is the sort of thing to expect in a two star hotel, not a luxury villa costing well over THB 11,000 (total) for one night.
Practically all European TV and all (one - HBO) movie channels were unavailable. I guess they stopped paying for the service.
Lack of explanation regarding the facilities during check-in eg. bikes and electric scooters, room service.. Do research beforehand and ask specifics.
There is no service book in the room. Download from a QR Code gives access to the room service menu but the system was not working for online ordering as instructed. If they are using this type of online service then really should provide all the other details as well.
Failed to advise pool was closed but alcohol for sale... a bit of a surprise.
No staff in chili blue .. There is a bell to ring, but some people missed it and left after walking around for a few minutes and taking photos. Hence there is a lack of customer engagement and the loss of additional sales.
We had the mixed set BBQ in the villa. This was excellent. And the setup of BBQ itself, table, and LED lighting was nice as was the wayyyy too much meat and seafood. No complaints there but if I was picky, better condiments/silverware would be welcome, but that was a small thing overall wrt the BBQ.
Bedroom aircon was ineffective /broken? Maintenance arrived in double quick time but unable to fix it even after they initially said it was fixed. With everything on max it was just OK with all curtains and doors closed.
You needed orangutan arms to reach one end of the curtain due to a wardrobe so close to the window.
Overall the concept is good fails on some design points... Net curtains on inside of curtain.. Heavy net curtain puller rod and someone hit their head on it.
No bedside tables although a shelf without beading so that things can fall off and hit the floor runs along the bedhead.
No running water at room entrance/patio to clean off shoes after being to beach etc.
In room entertainment lcd pad not functioning.
The prison cell style architecture is depressing. Even used typical prison grey paint. Some decoration on the walls whether with plant life of colourful paint designs would transform the environment for the better.
Check in (3pm) and check out times (11am) are unsatisfactory.
There was a high tea promotion ongoing. For the price it's not worth it. Stale bread, unexciting flavours. Would have been nice to have had a tea spoon too.
Is it worth the money? Even with covid discount prices I want to say yes as it's effectively a villa with a hotel service, but I have to say no. Better value for money lies elsewhere. It would not take much to change my slightly negative view to a very positive view. It's worth a visit bit perhaps not a repeat visit.
The staff were friendly, helpful and kind. No exceptions.
I suspect that during normal times more money would have been available to resolve many of the shortcomings we...

Ever dreamed of a peaceful, private pool villa just 30 minutes from Pattaya’s vibrant nightlife? Cross Pattaya Oceanphere promises the perfect getaway—until a 4AM shocker makes you wonder if you’ve stumbled onto a movie set instead of a resort.
The Villa: Bliss… Mostly • Private Pool & Plush Details One- or two-story villas pamper you with a secluded pool, leafy garden, and a bathtub that tests your patience with an eternity-long fill time. • Well-Stocked—Minus a Comb Expect quality toiletries, a portable speaker for poolside tunes, and cozy robes. But if you’re hoping to tame morning bedhead, bring your own comb. You’ll also want insect repellent—mosquitoes think they’re co-guests. • Food, Glorious Food Floating breakfast in your pool? Check. A DIY BBQ on your terrace? Also check. You might never want to leave your villa, and you won’t have to—everything can be delivered right to your door. • Comfy Beds & Quick Wi-Fi Great for streaming or posting envy-inducing photos—if the rest of the water system doesn’t upstage you.
The 4AM Nightmare
Picture the silent early hours, just you and the gentle hum of the aircon. Suddenly—BOOM. It’s like a small explosion echoing through the villa. Heart racing, you tiptoe into the bathroom, flick on the light, and freeze: a torrent of water is cascading right through the ceiling light fixture. The aircon hisses ominously, and you’re one soaked footstep away from your own water-themed horror show.
Several frantic calls later, staff appear—looking just as shell-shocked—and hustle you off to a new villa. By daylight, they label it a “minor water system malfunction,” though you’re convinced something flat-out exploded. An apology and a late checkout hardly soothe the memory of nearly turning your midnight stroll into an impromptu swim.
Other Quirks • Shower Roulette Hot, cold, back to hot—who needs consistency? • Drain Drama Expect to wade through ankle-deep water each time you shower. • Tub-Filling Marathon Perfect if you enjoy reading entire novels while waiting for your bath. • Uninvited Guests Mosquitoes are happy to share your luxury villa, free of charge.
A “Sorry” Gift: In-House Sardines
After the chaos, the manager offered a well-intentioned gesture: an in-house sardine product as a sign of apology. A unique souvenir, if not exactly the kind you expect from a high-end resort. Still, free snacks can’t hurt—especially if you’re heading on a road trip and need a quick bite.
Final Verdict
For all its late-night drama, Cross Pattaya Oceanphere remains undeniably appealing. The villas are lavish, the food options feel endless, and the bellboys truly hustle. If they fix the plumbing fiascos and invest in better nighttime emergency protocols, this place could be a dream come true. Just keep your phone handy at 4AM—because luxury sometimes comes with a splash.
Pros & Cons
