I stayed at this hostel from April 19th to 24th. On the morning of the 24th, I woke up to find my bag open and my money stolen. I went straight to the police to file a report, as anyone would do anywhere in the world.
I returned to the hostel accompanied by the police, and instead of receiving support, the staff reacted with hostility and aggression. One of the employees (about 6'1", light brown curly hair, several earrings and tattoos) acted in a threatening and confrontational way, and a female staff member had to step in to calm him down.
That same staff member accused me of lying, claimed the money "never existed," and told me to pack my things and leave. He even mocked me by saying not to forget a gold box or something like that, as if I had made the whole thing up. He insisted going to the police was pointless, showing a complete lack of empathy and professionalism.
On top of that, the rooms do not have locks. Anyone can come and go freely, even if they don’t belong to your room. There is no basic security in place, which makes it incredibly easy for things to be stolen.
I can prove I had that money. And honestly, who would choose to spend their time dealing with the police and filing reports instead of enjoying a paradise beach—unless something truly serious had happened?
⚠️ I absolutely do not recommend this place. There's no safety, no support, and no basic human respect...
Read moreI booked for two nights for 200baht/night, price is good, I just spent the first night, people were nice, I didn't spend much time at the hostel, but it seemed to have good atmosphere. The common areas are good, location is OK, Ko Tao is really small and if you have a scooter everything is 5 minutes away doesn't matter where you are staying. Now about the room: mattress are 10cm wide spring mattress, you can literally feel each of the springs in your body while you sleep, the support of the mattress is a steel mesh, looks like it was made from a fence or something similar, so between the poor support and the thin spring mattress I felt I wasn't straight while sleeping. On top of that I had the great luck of been in the bed next to the room where the water pump was installed, so every few minutes I heard a very loud humming wich could be compared to sleeping near a powerful engine, the wall vibrated, the mattress vibrated, a lot. This has been the worst night I've had in a month traveling around Thailand. In the morning I asked if I could do the check out after the first night, I was told (very politely) that no refunds were allowed, wich I understand, so no problems with that, as I said the staff seems friendly and the place was among the cheapest I found in ko Tao, but I wouldn't sleep there even if...
Read moreI stayed at this hostel on Koh Tao and had one of the worst experiences of my life. The hostel failed to inform us about a serious Norovirus outbreak that was clearly affecting many guests. It wasn’t until we heard from other people that we learned about the virus being rampant in the rooms. The hostel didn’t take any responsibility and didn’t even provide any warnings upon check-in.
To make matters worse, even after we were made aware of the situation, we were not given any proper guidance on how to protect ourselves. Despite the obvious health risk, they did nothing to ensure proper hygiene or clean up the affected areas. Now, 3 of us who stayed there have caught the virus and are suffering because of their negligence.
It’s incredibly frustrating that the hostel did not prioritize the safety and well-being of its guests. A basic duty of care is to inform guests of such risks, and they failed in that regard. No warnings, no precautions, and no real apology. This is an unacceptable lack of responsibility, especially when the spread of a contagious virus was so obvious.
If you’re planning to stay here, be aware that they may not have your health or safety in mind. I strongly advise avoiding this hostel...
