Fun Sun and nothing to hurry. A pier free of crime. Supersafe place 24 h 365 days a year. Many people don't know the safety in and around Koh Tao. Very friendly police everywhere on the island. Since 5 years I never saw a fight or another crime. Most of the pears knowing worldwide by own experiences have bad people around especially in the night. Not on Koh Tao. The divestes are amazing and limited in depth. You can't go to deep. Diveschools organise the divesites compared to customers certification limits.
I think sometimes maybe other trying to take customers from Koh Tao to other countries.
Let me explaining why it's looks like that for me.
Everywhere in the world we have some unnatural mortality. In ever places where many peoples around it happens. For example in Bern Switzerland we have more than 30 unnatural mortals a month and that's more that 25 years ago. Since a long time we have here less than 1 a year. Koh Tao never hush up for people feel more save. There is no saver place in the world than Koh Tao. Enjoy life come to Koh Tao. The pear is every year in maintenance for our safety too.
Koh Tao is on of the last paradise island and maybe people from other countries just try to steal customers...

Read moreArrived here on Lomprayah from Chumpon after a bus journey down from Hua Hin. Overall pier is OK but is very chaotic, "taxi drivers" shouting & touting for business everywhere, lots of people on a rickety old wooden pier, pushing and jostling, so something to consider, not for the faint-hearted.
On arrival we were told we had to pay 20 THB per person "pier fee". Weren't allowed to leave the pier before doing so. This felt like a mafia tax and based on the facial expression of the people taking the money at an impromptu trestle table .... wearing taxi uniform....I was a convinced it was. Farang tax for sure....they did have a nice little laminated sheet of A4 paper saying this was a government enforced fee....not convinced personally 😂
Keep your wits about you, book a taxi ahead of time. We used one from Google reviews. No Grab or Bolt on the island. Take plenty of cash with you, credit cards not widely accepted due to...
