We stayed at Maneetel Krabi for two nights for our short honeymoon. It was a last-minute booking, and we got the last standard deluxe room. When booking through Agoda, we mentioned that it was our honeymoon and asked if anything special could be arranged, but all we received was a simple honeymoon bed decoration — which was a nice gesture, but that was about it.
The room was quite small, fitting only our carry-on luggage. Our room faced the back of the hotel, with a view of a junkyard, which wasn’t pleasant. The water pressure was inconsistent, if one of us used the sink, the shower pressure would drop significantly. The bed was comfortable and the air-conditioning worked well, though it was noisy on high fan. The room also stayed humid most of the time.
Noise was another issue. Most rooms seem to have connecting doors, so if you’re a light sleeper, you’ll probably hear people talking next door or in the hallway. The TV had no English channels, Netflix, or any apps to connect streaming services.
The worst part was finding ants all over the bed on our last night, and I ended up with several bites. We didn’t bother reporting it since it was already close to breakfast and we were checking out soon after.
On the positive side, breakfast was quite good with plenty of variety with both Asian and Western food. Come early if you want a table facing the beach. The location was also great, right next to the Krabi night market, which became our go-to spot for dinner. The beach in front of the hotel wasn’t great, so we took a boat from Ao Nang to Railay Beach instead, which was much nicer.
In terms of service, the staff were polite but not particularly warm or helpful. One small thing that stood out, I understand I might look Thai, but I spoke English throughout check-in and with my German husband. It would have been more respectful if they continued in English instead of assuming I was Thai and switching languages.
Overall, for the price, it feels a bit expensive for the quality and service level. Between the small room, noise, and cleanliness issues, I wouldn’t...
Read moreWell, my wife and I call it the ManeeCell hotel. Why you ask? First the walls in the rooms are literally unfinished concrete just like you would see at a condo or high rise building while it's being built, and not only that the headboard and bed platform are made of concrete too. There is a black 1" galvanized "L" shaped water pipe clothes hanger bolted to the wall to hang your clothes on but other than that there is no where else to put your things. Which brings me to the next point, it is as small a room as I have ever been in next to staying on a fishing boat, so 2 people are constantly tripping over one another. The bathroom is equally as small and if you want hot water for the sink just forget about it, it has just cold water hooked up to it. Would you like to take a hot shower? Nope not for you either, the shower has an under-sized on demand unit that can't keep up with even the low flow shower head that is there. The plus is the room had a somewhat ocean view but it was across a busy and noisy street so that made the view next to worthless for us but you might find it okay. The included breakfast must have been brought in from somewhere else because it didn't look like they had a kitchen and the was mostly cold and really not good at all. The staff were great so I can't say anything but good things about them, they were awsome. This hotel is the pinnacle of a corporate penny-pinching culture of saving every cent even at the expense of customer comfort. Everything at the ManeeCell is about maximizing profit and it shows big time so check out the many other hotels in the area if you aren't into the industrial prison cell...
Read moreThis hotel was a complete disappointment. Despite paying for three adults, they refused to provide an extra bed, claiming it wasn’t mentioned in the booking. Isn’t it common sense that a booking for three adults should automatically include accommodations for three? The room they gave us was so cramped we could barely move after placing our luggage—even without the extra bed. After much back-and-forth with our agent, they begrudgingly gave us an extra bed, but now there’s no room to walk at all.
When we politely asked the front desk if they had a slightly bigger room, the staff member laughed mockingly and asked, “Will you pay extra?” This felt not only rude but humiliating. Do they think we’re staying for free? While I understand charging extra for larger rooms is policy, the tone and laugh were incredibly disrespectful. It felt demeaning, as if she viewed us as less deserving. When we asked her to be polite, she arrogantly flaunted her name tag and told us to go ahead and complain, showing no remorse.
We requested to speak to the general manager, and she smugly called them. Unfortunately, the general manager showed no concern or willingness to address the behavior of their staff.
It makes me wonder if we, as Indians, are seen as less deserving of respect. When foreigners visit our country, we extend hospitality and courtesy; why can’t we receive the same in return? This experience left me feeling humiliated and deeply disappointed, not just with this hotel but also with Thailand as a destination. What should have been a happy start to our trip in Krabi was instead marred by humiliation and...
