After searching up some proper Thai restaurants in the area I settled to give this one a go and was pleasantly surprised.
I arrived and ordered two dishes: papaya salad (spicy) and a Pad Thai. For a drink I wanted to order a coconut, sadly they were out so we settled for a mango smoothie (no sugar).
After sitting down the gentleman came by and gave me some free deep fried (whatever that was...), which was quite kind. I ordered my dishes and we had the usual conversation about the spicy level of the salad. I said I haven't gotten spicy yet at all in Thailand and he said to make sure it was spicy, he didn't lie.. I loved that this place makes sure that the wishes of their customers are met and that they make the dishes how they like it! The flavour of both dishes was amazing and the salad was indeed spicy! To the point that I ordered the mango smoothie to soothe myself a tiny bit.
The smoothie was great too and they had that ready within seconds of ordering.
If you like authentic Thai food, you want it spicy and you like to have a drink or fresh juice or smoothie as well, this is the place to go to! I wished I skipped the night market and went here every night.
The only bad thing is, is the amount of mosquitos hunting you. Make sure to sit within the reach level of a fan not...

Indian should try coconut curry (has lemongrass flavor in it) and massaman curry (red thai curry which we get in India).
I have managed to click some photos on out last night especially to upload as part of my review.
They do give complimentary watermelon and some fish dish and on our last day complimentary mango sticky rice too..
Special thanks to the uncle who attends, he did some magic tricks and kept my kids (grown ups 9 and 12) entertained.
PS: there is another May & zin restaurant while this is halal May & zin restaurant next to Holiday Ao Nang not sure it's the same branch. They have some tables inside so pls do check with them before assuming it's full...
Read moreFound out that May&Zin restaurant still exists at its old location here. They have now expanded to 2 outlets, but Google moved the old reviews to the new outlet near the Aonang Mosque, which included my review 5 years ago.
As of Jan 2023, I have tried both outlets, and I can safely say that the food quality is still great after all these years and after covid as well.
One thing to note is that this outlet is run by one main cook and her helper who doubles up to take your order. So order time might take long if you have a big order.
I do notice that not many people went here when I walked past earlier, maybe cos Google doesn't direct you to this outlet anymore and instead the one near Aonang Mosque. Also, it's good that May&Zin is still here as there aren't many Halal options on this...
