ASHLEE Plaza Patong Hotel & Spa — Hotel in Patong

A Truly Horrifying experience at this hotel !! They called the police and extorted me for $200 dollars (4000 baht) after my new Thai girlfriend got locked in the bathroom for almost an hour on our very first romantic night together because the lock was jammed when she went to the toilet and she couldn't get out. Reception was trying to unlock it and tell her to push it left and right over and over again, and it was jammed. They were pushing at the door to try and get her out and finally I shoved the door with my shoulder and the timber cracked behind the door lock and let her out. Then they blamed me for shoving the door that I have to pay 7000 baht ($350) which is a ridiculous amount of money for the small timber trimmer to be replaced. I said, no you have my passport and the online company has my credit card details, so you can show me the official receipt and I will pay half (or negotiate an amount) to make it a fair price, so instead they illegally detained me, refused to let me leave, called the police who agreed 100% with the hotel and threatened to take me to jail if I didn't pay the 4000 baht immediately !!! I paid the money, then said, please can you send the the receipt from the carpenter after he does the replacement and they refused to give a receipt, because that amount is a ridiculously high cost that they made up. The same day a 30 pound dumbell in their gym (Fishermans, same hotel chain) broke and half the dumbell fell and just missed my head by inches !!!@ I did 18 reps, and on rep 17 the dumbell felt a little loose, so i turned it around so the loose end was away from my head (lying down on the bench) then the exact moment i did the next rep the dumbell fell apart and just missed my face !!! Also, the security lock broke when someone tried to open my door from outside because housekeeping left my door unlocked on 3 occassions for anyone to enter my room !! I feel seriously traumatised by being falsely detained, threatened with jail, treated like a criminal, my new girlfriend locked in the bathroom for nearly an hour that completely ruined our first romantic night together, and the dumbell nearly falling on my head !!!! My god it was the most horrendous experience I've ever had in a hotel. And a few night before a ladyboy started having a fist fight with a drunken tourist in the room next to me she was screaming abuse at him for 20-30 minutes and threw his entire suitcase off the first floor balcony and his clothes were all over the street. They didn't even call the police for the ladyboy attacking the foreigner and destroying his bag, but they nearly had me jailed and made me pay 4000 baht !!! They held me like a criminal, and I feel so nervous and traumatised by the experiences at that hotel !!! My new girlfriend was so upset by being locked in the bathroom that she left as soon as she got out to go home !!! I had stayed there for 2 weeks last December, then 10 days before this happened with plans to stay another 2-3 weeks, but when they threatened me with police I packed up and tried to leave the hotel and cut the stay short to move to another hotel. After I paid 4000, she had the hide to tell me that I can stay for the remaining 3 weeks of my stay in Phuket ... Are you god damn kidding me !!!! How could the manager think anyone would want to stay after being illegally detained, extorted, the first date ruined with my new gf locked in the bathroom and nearly having my face crushed with a broken 30...

Not Recommended at All – Overrated and Horrible Experience

I am shocked at how this hotel has a 4-star rating—it doesn't even deserve 2 stars. If your trip manager or team has booked this hotel for your stay, ask them to change it immediately. For the same price, you can find a much better place in Phuket.

I stayed here with my family for two days, but unfortunately, since the payment was already made and non-refundable, we had no choice but to stay. Out of my 10-day trip to Thailand, these two days were the worst and an unforgettable nightmare.

Major Issues:

Extremely small and congested rooms – feels suffocating.

Very tiny bathroom – barely any space to move.

No basic furniture – no table, chair, dining table, or tea table in the room.

Zero privacy – every room has an extra door with a gap at the bottom, which connects to the adjacent room. You can hear everything from the next room, even a pin drop! When we requested a room change, the staff rudely said all rooms were the same and hung up the call.

Pointless balcony – even a single chair wouldn’t fit.

Unfair deposit policy – They demand 1,000 Baht as a security deposit at check-in but will try to find excuses not to refund it at checkout.

Unprofessional management – The manager has a terrible attitude and lacks basic hospitality skills.

Unsafe and inconvenient setup – The reception is in a separate building from the rooms, and there is no security, staff, or contact person available in the building where guests stay.

If you still decide to stay here, I suggest not using anything in the room and just sleeping on the floor—probably the only way to avoid their ridiculous...

My stay at this hotel was a delightful experience from start to finish. The service throughout the hotel was impeccable. Every staff member I encountered was attentive, efficient, and went above and beyond to ensure my comfort and satisfaction.

In conclusion, my stay at this hotel was an exceptional experience. It combined comfort, convenience, and excellent service, making it a memorable part of my trip. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for quality accommodation that feels like a home...
