I understand that some other customers like the food, but they are not chefs. I also admit that I am not easy to satisfy when it comes to food but I also dont deny when the food is good.
Now though Im a Lebanese chef, but my cuisine is very very close to Turkish, actually Lebanese cuisine is a mixture between Turkish and Greek.
Starting with hummus, it was so thin and watery, served on a flat plate because it cannot be shaped properly due to the thin texture, plus all I could taste was cumin. I know that cumin is the most commonly used spice in Turkish cuisine, but not this much.
Moving to the cacik, or as other people know tzatziki, it was more like AYRAN with cucumber than actually cacik. AYRAN is a yogurt based drink. Both the hummus and the cacik were topped with cheap vegetable oil instead of olive oil.
Lahmacun, or as we call it in Arabic LAHM B AJIN was acceptable but a bit bland, it probably needed more seasoning, so if you eat it on its own you still get some flavor, but once you put the vegetables in then that's it, it tastes like salad. The base was so thin and over cooked and I couldnt fold it, it broke. Lahmacun base should be cooked but still flexible because people usually put the vegetables in with a squeeze of lemon and wrap it. Lime was put there instead of lemon as well. And no, lime and lemon do not taste the same.
The chicken shish was fine, big chunky juicy pieces of chicken breast, but the fact of the chicken cubes being too big stood against all the marination from going into the meat. So basically most of the flavor was on the outside of the meat.
Prices are quite acceptable and portion size is good. The tables by the wall on the right hand side have lamps hanging over them, but they are hanging too low. I hit them with my head every time I stood up. Service staff need to learn at least to ask the customers about the food, especially that my hummus and cacik were returned to the kitchen more than half full. Service staff didnt even bother asking me why I didnt eat them.
I apologize if you dont like my review, but I said what I said out of good intention. You have a nice looking restaurant with a good location, you have big chances for big success and I wish you...

Read moreThe worst service ever. The server was passive aggressive towards us from the start. When a friend asked for vegetarian options on the menu, she was told that Turkish people generally eat meat so the veg dishes might be limited, by an obviously Thai server. Moving on, when she asked for wine, the server very rudely asked her if she could have alcohol since she was vegetarian. I'm sorry, did I order a side of snark with my food?
It would have been great if it ended there, coz the food was truly good. We proceeded to order some cocktails - Bloody Mary, Mai Thai and Long Island. The cocktails were a disappointment to say the least and we politely asked for them to be taken back coz they were all water and syrup! The same server again informed us with a smirk that he could take it back but he's not taking it off our bill. We would've been ok with it if it wasn't spoken like he did! After some bickering about how the two cocktails were not up to the mark at all, and the tomato juice in the Bloody Mary was clearly watered down, he proceeded to ask me if I had ever had a cocktail before in my life! (I had ordered the Bloody Mary)
On being asked to call the manager or owner, the server said there wasn't one so we asked him if he was the owner, which he wasn't. Listening to all that commotion the owner finally showed, apologized on the behalf of the server, the server apologized too. She offered us complimentary dessert, the drinks didn't make it to the bill, and the food was great.
But the server... never again! Once the owner appeared on the scene, the server did a total back flip and was so polite, I'm sure he spat...
