Bella Tropicana Hotel & Guesthouse — Hotel in Patong

We picked this hotel because reviews and ratings were good, on arrival we are greeted by a very rude and grumpy woman that speaks little to no English who seems unable to help with any questions you ask her about tours booking transport or the surrounding area. She has also sold our room even though we had booked online and told us her hotel was full. After much heated discussion she contacted another hotel how houses us for a night but then demanded that we change rooms the next day and that this could not be done until 12pm so we were to wait in reception with out bags until then! This wasting our first morning waiting for this to happen. When we moved into our actual room the tv didn't work there was no water coming out of the shower and the bed felt like we were sleeping on bricks it actually bruise our hips. Everytime we tried to confront her with a problem she was just very rude back. She also leave reception unattended a lot of the time so if people have luggage stored there it is not really safe. The hotel is also 25mins for Bangka road not a few minutes and the pool is attached to someone else's house and there is quite a strange atmosphere like you are invading there family home if you choose to sit around it, there are also no sunbeds! I stayed here for 3 nights with 2 friends. We had originally booked a family room but upon arrival we were told that there wasn't one available which was a little annoying. They offered us 2 standard rooms instead which we accepted, I didn't actually mind having a room to myself. The rooms were nice, well decorated and spacious. The bathroom was okay, shower was hot and good water pressure. The cleaners com every day if you hang the sign on your door which was much appreciated. The bed was large and comfy and there was also a tv and fridge. Wifi was free, worked well sometimes but the connection was unreliable. The safe box in the room was locked when we arrived and the lady at reception had no idea how to use them, we used the lockers downstairs instead. Be aware the reception is not 24 hour and is often closed so if you are departing early or arriving late, you will have to call the number displayed on the front door. The location was good for us, quiet and away from the madness of Bangla road but close enough to walk. The walk to Bangla road and Patong Beach was around 20 mins. Rooms in this place are OK for the price, nothing special though. So that's it for the positives... The front desk lady is extremely rude or just lazy as it seems that nothing apart from checking in people is part of her job. Once arriving we didn't have tissue in the toilet which we then requested from her. She just bluntly said that it's not her job to get such things. Another similar incident with cleaning service as for some reason we didn't get our rooms cleaned out on one day. She just shrugged her shouldesrs and that was it. Considering that she was the only person around most of the time would have been great to get a bit more service from her. So yeah it's impossible to recommend this budget hotel just because of...
