Stayed in a sea view pool villa for 5D4N. Overall it was a decent stay but it was not great. The pool villa does offer some privacy and convenience of your private pool outside your room, however getting from your villa to the breakfast restaurant/lobby or anywhere else is far from convenient. Your privacy can also be compromised with drones flying around.
Check-in: The overall experience was normal, nothing outstanding for a 5-star advertised resort hotel. No special treatment even if you are staying at the most priciest villa.
Getting to your villa: There is only 1 open air elevator that moves at a speed of 1950s serving 6 levels and is shared amongst hotel service staffs, construction workers, and guests. You can literally wait for 10mins to get a ride and staying in level 5(top) it takes at least 2 mins to get to ground floor. Fortunately it did not rain much, otherwise, you would be drenched while waiting for the elevator.
Ambience & surrounding: The photos and pictures in the website and travel platforms looks amazing and it was true to the actual sight with the nature theme consistent throughout the property. However, unfortunately during my stay, the resort was expanding and building even larger villas and it was abit noisy during the day. Perhaps cordoning off the area of construction would be good to reduce the overall experience.
Service & staff: Generally, concierge and service staffs were friendly and speak decent English. Some are quite helpful but there were a few occasions that some issues were not resolved and requests not fulfilled. When quizzed, I was told that there was a lack of manpower. Quite a disappointment for a large hotel chain and for such a as bespoke brand. Called for luggage porter service 1 day in advance but nobody turned up and had to carry 2 large luggage’s plus 2 hand carry physically up and down flights of stairs while my pregnant wife carried our kid and another hand carry.
Room: The pool villa was clean and had all the basic hotel provisions. Plus points for the international power socket with USB sockets. King size bed is comfortable and they had a mix of soft and firm pillows. The entrance to your room for the pool villa comes with 2 flights of stairs which means you have to physically carry your luggages up and down into the room. This is highly inconvenient. Some of the bathroom accessories are not to the standard of a 5-star resort standard. Water supply was disrupted on the 1st morning and had intermittent slow pressure from sink. Pool water had a rusty smell and it lingers on the swimwear. Some of the wooden planks had exposed nails so had to be careful. Did not utilize the patio and the daybed. Our exterior lighting was also malfunctioning and was not fixed during the course of our stay even when we brought it up to the staff. Our unit was a corner unit and was nearest to a staff holding area and we can sometimes hear conversations and noises near the door. Soundproofing is 7/10 and you can hear music from the streets.
F&B: There’s only 1 restaurant for breakfast/lunch/dinner. Menu option is quite diverse from local Thai to international, Indian, and fusion. Breakfast buffet was 6/10 compared to 5 star hotels. There are varieties but limited options. Quality of the food was 8/10. Lunch and dinner menu are similar and kids menu is limited.
Hotel experiences: Pregnant wife went for a pre-natal massage experience and she enjoyed the relaxing massage. Did not get to try any other activities in the resort.
Location: 1hr+ car ride from airport 45mins to Phuket old town 7mins walk to nearest convenience supermarket
Overall: Not really a young children/family-friendly resort. Staffs are not the most attentive(perhaps lack of manpower). Villas are not very convenient and only 1 extremely slow-moving elevator shared with service staff, workers constructing the new villas and guests. Perhaps it is more suitable for young couples and adult travelers who are looking for a...
Read moreI stayed for 4 nights in two different rooms type. Check in was smooth as hotel staff welcomed me very well and they also recognized my membership level. They let me sit down on one of the lobby couches and registered my information then bring me the room keys. A member of the hotel has walked me to my room. I entered the first room which is King Premium Pool View which has a balcony. The room located on the 4th floor and it was clean and tidy but I felt that there is something wrong in the room design. It has a split type air conditioner not. Usually 5 stars hotel has a central A/C & split is not a common type. The A/C located in front of the bed so imagine slipping while the A/C air is hitting you directly. Bathroom has a tiny window that open direct to the bed and I don’t know why? The bed is around 175 cm long so if you’re a tall person your legs will be hanging on the air like me. When I opened the balcony there was a cooking food smells that is coming from the restaurant located below the room. Also, the room located in front of the bar which is located next to the hotel swimming pool. Bars as usual is playing loud music and it is very loudly inside the room but I don’t know why, then I found out that there is one of the speaks is under the room balcony. In my first night I couldn’t sleep until music closed at 11 PM. Second night music didn’t stop at 11 PM so I want down to the reception at 11:30 PM asking for the hotel duty manager. The gentleman there said that there is no one in charge and he can’t call the management, also he can’t help me turning off the music so I can sleep. So, I asked him about the hotel policy and roles in such situations but he couldn’t help me in that or he pretended that he didn’t understand it. 5 stars hotel don’t play music in open area until midnight, also they don’t have a bar located in the middle of the hotel next to the swimming pool while half of the hotel rooms are with pool view. Next morning I went to the lobby looking for the hotel manager and I met a very kind lady. I explained to her what happened and I asked her to find me a solution. She apologized about what happened and offered me another room located in building One on the 6th floor and she claim that will be away from the music. I want to see the one bedroom suite which is bigger than what I am staying on. Music noise became much lower that previous room but I still hear it clearly, so if you are sensitive to any kind of noise this is not the type of hotel to stay on. In summary, staff is helpful and they are trying to provide needed support. Breakfast restaurant has good variety of food in good quality but try to sit in the outdoor area as the inside is full of food and cooking smelles. Also, at one night I had dinner in the rice restaurant and they do have a great biryani. WiFi speed is good, gym is so small and has limited equipments. Location is not the best as it is 20 minutes walk to the beach and 10 minutes walk to Jungceylon shopping mall. From my experience and what I saw in this hotel I believe this hotel doesn’t worth to be one of IHG group and I don’t recommend...
Read moreLocation and Atmosphere: The Dinso Phuket Hotel boasts a convenient location, approximately a 15-minute walk from the vibrant Phuket beach scene. The hotel's unique design, blending modern architecture with a jungle aesthetic, is a notable feature and creates a distinctive ambiance.
Rooms: While the room is generally acceptable (no iron, no small vanity mirror and only 1 bassin for a room that can welcome 3 people), the thin walls are a significant drawback. Guests should be prepared for potential noise. As stated in other comments, we can hear the nightlife, but after 11 PM things tend to be quieter).
Staff and Communication: The staff are consistently friendly and try their best to assist guests. However, a significant language barrier poses challenges. Even simple requests are often met with difficulty in understanding, and feedback provided is frequently missed due to communication issues. Been asked couple of times for my feedback. When I start raising my concerns, there is no answer from their side, they acknowledge say thank you and leave.
Service Responsiveness: Service responsiveness is a major concern. On multiple occasions, I experienced lengthy waits at the pool bar without any staff approaching to take orders, indicating a need for improved attentiveness.
IHG Diamond Member Recognition: As a IHG Diamond member, I was deeply disappointed with the lack of recognition and benefits. Standard perks usually provided in hotels, such as discounts on food, beverages, and spa services, were not offered. When I raised a complaint at checkout, the only concession was a 20% discount on that day's meal, with no apology or further compensation for the oversight during my stay. This clearly shows a lack of appreciation for IHG loyalty.
Spa Experience: The hotel's spa is overpriced and underwhelming. A 2-hour traditional Thai massage costs approximately $75, excluding a substantial 17%+ tax. When seeking recommendations, staff primarily pushed the most expensive packages (over $120). Although a detailed preference form is provided, my therapist disregarded my stated preferences. For a significantly better experience and value, I recommend Let's Relax Spa (10mn walk), which offers a 2-hour traditional Thai massage for around $35 (all taxes included) and meticulously follows your preferences.
Activities and Staff Highlight: A special mention goes to Toto, the activities coordinator. His kickboxing sessions were excellent, and his engaging personality made the experience highly enjoyable.
Overall Impression: The Dinso Phuket Hotel is adequate for travelers who are not IHG loyalty members. However, IHG members should not expect much in terms of recognition or benefits. The hotel primarily caters to couples and groups of friends, with few families present (so far, but I noticed during my stay)
Recommendation: For non-IHG members: The hotel offers a quality stay with a unique design and a good location.
For IHG members: I do not recommend this hotel due to the lack of loyalty recognition and poor service regarding membership perks.
For spa: I do not recommend...
