The Mangrove by Blu Monkey — Hotel in Wichit

I originally gave this hotel a very good review, but felt the need to change it half way through...

Me and my partner got an ocean view villa. It's very nice, spacious, with gorgeous views. The room is relatively clean. One thing I noticed though was lots of tiny bugs in a couple of areas on the floor, which made me hesitant to walk bare foot.

The beach isn't very nice, but again, the views are amazing, and there's hammocks and other things on the hotel grounds to lounge on.

The Jacuzzi is little small and the jets didn't work on ours, which was disappointing.

The restaurant, food, drinks, and staff there are very friendly and nice. The grounds are nice too and a good, clean pool.

Don't opt for their laundry service. It's way cheaper to walk 5 minutes down the road and get a big bag of it done, rather than 25 baht per item of clothing!

Our biggest problem was with their moped hire service. We figured that doing this at a hotel would be a lot safer than hiring one off the street... we were wrong. Towards the end of our stay, we were on our way to a beach, and got pulled over by police, along with many others. They told us that the documents on the bike had expired. We had to shell out 500 baht to the police. They then said that because it's not our bike, the hotel would give us our money back... the hotel had no interest in giving us our money back. THEN, we handed back the keys the evening before we were due to leave, and they said that because we started the hire in the morning, it has to end in the morning... So they wanted to charge us another 300 baht for an extra day of hire, and we didn't use the damn thing! Leaving day came around, and we finally managed to get it sorted.

Not very happy with the way we've been treated with this at all. Don't hire a moped...

Due to corona restrictions, we spent a little over two weeks in this resort, the location is on the bay well isolated and with good surroundings, we booked two deluxe studios that were very comfortable with good beds and good facilities, we enjoyed very much the first few days but I must admit that many things influenced in a negative way In our overall experience. First of all the breakfast choice is very limited, two Thai dishes and two-three western dishes, pineapple juice or orange juice, coffee or the. There are no fruits in this resort!!! which is very strange considering that you can get very good fruits all over the island. There is a beach coffee/bar in this resort, you can not get any form for shake in this place it has a separate menu from the resort but everything is cooked in the same kitchen. The pool aerea is close to the coffebar, the coffebar has a playlist with around 10 songs, wich the play from early morning to around 6 PM. We asked the many times if the could put the sound a little down or change the music so its not the same over and over again. They couldn't not. the same answer we got when we asked for fruits. We had some voucher for food, they asked us to ´pay´ every night, wich was fine. Unfortunally they could not find out of ther own system, so we spend between 30-40 minutes every night just to pay. they kept coming with old builds and asked us to pay them again. We stayed here for 3 nights and as it seem quite far away from the center so we rented a car which I recommend as it's cheaper than taxi. This place maintain the cleanliness and garden very well. Pool also in good size with fantastic view. I love to just sit down and chill nearby the beach, It was very lovely. I love how quiet this place is.

The room is pretty. We stayed on the buliding and my mom stay in Villa, they are both in good size and even have little basin to wash the dishes(but no dish soap 😂). Bed is comfortable and clean. Terrace is nice and you can have partly seaview on the building.

The toilet also in good size. But it is always smell funny. Wish they fix this because sometime it's really too much.

The food is good with reasonable price. They have coffee shop that open for the public guests. The coffee is good and you get discount if you stay here.

There are 2 entrance if you stay in the building I recommend you to go down to Grove cafe to check in first then drive to the 2nd parking which will be much closer.

There is cockroach in our room which that kind of make me feeling down about this place but I can understand as there are lots of trees so maybe they just come through that (trying to be positive thinking 😂)

Suggestions: -The bulding has no elevator so not suitable for ppl who have walking problem. The location is quite a way in alley so if you want to save money you should rent a vehicle. The beach is not for swimming.
