I visited this hotel as a group of 3 families - I will share only my family experience to avoid wrongfully expressing others feelings.
My family consists on 2 adults (Aged 39 and 30) and 3 children (Aged 9, 7 and 3), my youngest child is disabled and requires a wheel chair. We stayed at this hotel for 6 nights.
GOOD/DECENT
Food - The food was decent and hot most of the times, and there was variety in the evenings, however breakfast and lunch was the same food every day. The head chef was a gentleman - he arranged for a birthday cake for us and would ask if we ever needed anything. It was because of him we were able to resolve some of the issues below.
This was it.
BAD
This will take a while...
Room - we booked quad rooms, and we received room 458 the single pane glass in the room allowed for the evening entertainment to sound like the speakers were inside our room till 12am. This drove us crazy. Additional to this, the lift for the hotel is next door and sounded like an extremely loud generator whenever the lift moved. Combine the sounds together and the fact the Air conditioning was undersized for the rooms so we were sat sweating and sleepless made for a perfect torture room. My wife was in tears and my children couldn't sleep. I informed the reception on 4 occasions, and only till I expressed frustration in person did they send a 'maintenance' worker - this individual tapped the vent a few times and told me the AC was fixed, it wasn't. The Wifi also did not work in the entire hotel except in the lobby area (and our new room). I had no choice but to move my kids and wife into one of the other families room we had arrived with. The next day we demanded to move rooms and on the 3rd room I viewed, we were content with it , although the phone did not work. Every room we viewed either the AC didn't work, or there was a leak, or there was not enough space for the full family.
Reception - Constantly broke promises, and we could tell we were not the only ones being told one thing and nothing was being delivered - on most occasions of walking past the reception there was somebody complaining about something. I was shouted at by the reception staff when I was asking for the bare necessities.
Drinks - If you are lucky to find a glass in the restaurant, there is a man stood pouring either cola, fanta or lemonade (one man for the entire food service for lunch and dinner). Water is only available in a machine - when we drank this on the first day, all my family became ill. We requested bottled water and this is only available to your room for free. Bottled water is charged at 3 dinar every where else in the resort.
Beach - The local beach (7 minutes walk) is vile. The walk up to the beach is disgusting, and smells like a sewage. Cigarette butts everywhere in the sand, and a lot of other mess. For my family's safety we did not go into the sea or tread too far into the beach and returned to the hotel.
Disabled Access - For wheelchair users, this is not a wheelchair friendly hotel. Access from the lobby to anywhere else in the resort requires going up or down some stairs. For my 3 year old daughter we were fortunate we could take her out the wheel chair and carry her up/down the stairs, however for an adult completely dependent on a wheelchair, then there is no facility from the lobby to else where for you.
Waiters - Literally ignored everyone. The only purpose for them is to ad hoc clear tables and on occasion leave some cutlery. On most occasions everyone is scampering around looking for a knife/fork/glass.
Safety - On a few floors there are windows approx 6 foot tall and about 2 feet off the floor with windows that open. I can not understand how this has passed a safety check. This is an accident waiting to happen - a child could easily fall out these windows. I would urge the hotel to address this as a...

It’s like feeding time at the zoo for extremely dire food. We had gastric issues twice during a 10 day stay, the only 2 times we ate in at teatime ||||The hotel is in a complete state, extremely unclean, one downstairs indoor toilet ( the only one available) that is constantly flooded with human excrement and urine, mould covers most of the vents in the rooms and during our 10 day stay (we’re on day 10) the pool side & sunbeds have not been cleaned once, despite multiple complaints. Bar staff and reception staff are extremely rude, Sonia the manager is polite however will not adress major concerns and disappeared everyday I reported assault. Lifeguards daily attempt to kiss my 5 year old daughter on the lips despite being told no multiple times a day.||One was seen to be taking selfies with my children, after being told no to kissing them and no to pictures.||||The restaurant is unsanitary and you’ll physically need to battle for cuttlery, however this is bought to your table if your not the minority; same goes for drink ware, all British/white people here drink from either their own containers or cardboard shot glasses (no larger options) and all other cultures get glassware and table service||||Discarded cigarettes all over the hotel and in the lobby/bar where smoking is permitted inside (permitted inside throughout) but nobody bothers with ashtrays. Dirty earbuds, sanitary products and used toilet roll can be found strewn around the hotel. ||||You cannot use the indoor pool,||All entertainment in the games room is broken.||||Daytime entertainment is none existent apart from the foam party (again Barged so much with my 5 year old we had to leave) even when reported to the life guards that it was unsafe.||||Lifeguards regularly disappear for 20 mins to smoke with no replacement meaning I myself pulled 3 non swimmers out of the deep end whilst fully clothed.||||I’m not naive to Tunisian culture or the country and returned because we have loved all the other visits to different cities but we have been left with a terrified 5 year old that doesn’t want to leave the room. A 9 year old that doesn’t want to return to the country and a 15 year old that has stayed in the room for 6 out of the day days. ||||Especially avoid booking with L* holidays as they told me to enjoy my day and to send an email to report the assaults of my child and refused to relocate me.||||All in all I paid thousands to be stuck in hell with 3 extremely scared children. With 0 help, if you do come with young children please do NOT let them out of your sight and be aware that the hotel is open to the public for a minimal day rate so you cannot report any of these guests. ||||Hammamet it’s self is a beautiful place but I personally would advise against leaving your complex if you have a young child, especially female with blonde hair as you gain constant unwanted physical contact and the language barrier means it can become extremely difficult to maintain boundaries. ||Wouldn’t return to this hotel if it was free and I was paid millions to come, most...
Read moreI have just returned from an 11-day all-inclusive stay at the Hammamet Resort and Spa. While most of the staff were friendly and worked extremely hard, the resort itself is very dated and not particularly clean.
Upon arrival, there was an issue with our booking as we were initially given two separate rooms despite having booked a family room. This was eventually rectified after I insisted that two separate rooms were unacceptable for my family. However, when we finally checked into our room, we immediately noticed that the hygiene standards and furnishings were subpar. The room was dated and in desperate need of a deep clean; the bathtub was grimy, the shower curtain was dirty, and the mattresses were stained and extremely uncomfortable.
The restaurant experience was equally disappointing. The tablecloths were consistently stained and dirty; in fact, it would have been better if there were no tablecloths at all. Finding clean cutlery and glasses became a daily challenge. The food options were limited and repetitive, which put us off dining at the resort, leading us to eat elsewhere most of the time.
On the day of our arrival, we were approached by several excursion staff trying to sell us trips. While most were polite and backed off when we explained we had just arrived and would book when ready, one staff member, in particular, was very insistent—the spa representative. We had initially planned to book a spa experience for our family of four. However, the staff member continued to pester us to "secure" a booking immediately.
To get him off our back, I attempted to proceed with the booking, only to be informed that they did not accept card payments. I explained that I would need to go to the cash point and would book once I was ready. Despite this, he continued to pressure us and even offered an unsolicited ride to the cash point, which made us feel further pressured to pay immediately. When I declined, he stormed off, muttering under his breath. His aggressive approach completely put us off. This unpleasant encounter led us to book a spa experience elsewhere, where we received a much more professional and welcoming service.
After this incident, the staff member ignored us for the remainder of our stay, which was hardly professional.
Additionally, several other guests advised us to call taxis from outside the resort if we needed transportation to a cash point or to Yasmine Medina, as the rates should be no more than 10 TND. However, we heard from several guests that when they booked through Sonia at reception, the quoted prices were three times higher. It seems likely that there is some arrangement between the hotel staff and a local taxi company, with inflated prices benefiting someone at the resort. This happened to at least three guests during our stay.
Overall, the dated facilities, lack of cleanliness, poor dining experience, aggressive sales tactics, and potential overcharging for taxis left a lot to be desired. I would not recommend this resort in its current state and sincerely hope that management takes steps to address...
