DO NOT STAY HERE We are seasoned travellers and had the worst experience at this ‘boutique hotel’. Arriving at 11pm we were told that the price we had had confirmed by them for our stay was ‘too cheap’ and that if we wanted to stay we had to pay cash (assume this was so they would avoid paying tax on the booking). There was no reference to this requirement on our booking confirmation. We therefore sent out on to the street to find a cash point. ATMs are expensive in Turkey and we were charged €50 to withdraw the money!! The night manager’s manners were unprofessional throughout, he was aggressive and rude. We would definitely have looked for an alternative place to stay had it not been midnight in a new city. The hotel is also located on top of a club (Club Olympic) as such was extremely noisy throughout the night with music not finishing until 4am. Furthermore the room itself is grotty and not as pictured. Our room had a pair of a previous guests socks on the desk, as well as the bathroom area never having seen a thorough clean. There is nothing positive to report on this hotel and overall our experience was 0/10 and ruined our trip. Please heed this advice and avoid this hotel at all costs. There are much nicer boutique options for similar prices in quieter locations with much more accommodating staff- which we found out later in our stay in Istanbul. Also as a warning the card that we put down for this hotel initially saw a lot of fraudulent activity in the lead up to our stay. We cannot confirm, but there is too much of a...
Read moreAvoid this place. I don’t usually write reviews but felt that this needed one to help others not fall for the high ratings this place has.
Located right on the main shopping street I would have expected some noise but this was directly above a bar/club that had loud music playing until 4am. Even with earplugs in, you could still hear the thumping of the bass until the early hours.
The room looked like it hadn’t been cleaned when we arrived considering there was a dirty sock on the side when we checked in. The towels had stains on them and the floor was dirty.
When we first checked in the guy on the desk said we needed to pay in cash even though he had my card details from the booking (My bank had detected fraud on this card not long after making the booking which I am still suspicious of). He said that we were only getting a discount on the room because we were meant to pay in cash and went on to talk the high taxes in his country. When checking the booking with him I pointed out the discount was offered by them because we were staying multiple nights and not because of his made up cash theory (assuming to avoid tax). Being so late in the day and not having anywhere else to stay at the hour we had to take cash out from a machine that charged a considerable fee.
After leaving this place I have seen other reviews stating that they have been charged twice when paying with card and haven’t received a refund from them.
Don’t be fooled by the high reviews, if it’s the case of paying slightly more to go somewhere...
Read moreOur stay at Magnova Studios in Istanbul was truly memorable. The hotel's location couldn't be better – nestled in the heart of the city, it's surrounded by a wealth of restaurants and shopping stores.
Upon entering our room, we were immediately struck by the fantastic interior design. The blend of modern comfort and traditional aesthetics created a warm and inviting atmosphere. The highlight, however, were the beautiful balconies that offered stunning views of the city.
What truly set Magnova Studios apart was their exceptional staff. They not only helped secure reservations at the elusive Ruby's restaurant, a true culinary gem, but they also went the extra mile to assist us in finding flowers for my partner, adding a special touch to our stay.
One thing to note is that Magnova Studios, being a converted old church building, does not have an elevator. While it might pose a slight inconvenience, it didn't bother us much and added to the hotel's unique charm.
Overall, Magnova Studios is a hidden gem in Istanbul. Its excellent location, fantastic interior, beautiful balconies, and the dedication of its staff make it a top choice for a memorable stay in this...
