The hotel was alright for the price, however other than that they didn't have much to offer. Me and my husband checked the activities the hotel offered and there was sauna in the options, so we asked the staff and they said they didn't have a sauna, which is false advertising. Plus, it said on the explanation part that the studio room that we stayed in had heating floor system, but all we had was a super loud air conditioner that made it hard to listen to music or watch movies, as we struggled to hear even with the highest volume on. When it comes to TV, it wasn't the best quality or brand new, wasn't a smart TV, it was also kept in a wooden frame that made it impossible to plug any cables in it to watch movies, and when we asked staff, they didn't help much about it, but they helped bringing back the channels that were gone. However, the main point of paying for TV for us was to enjoy watching movies from a big screen without having to cripple around a laptop on the bed in between us, but we had to watch all the movies from my travel size small laptop, which made it hard and not so enjoyable to watch our favourite movies. Coming to the bathroom, it wasn't as good as it showed in the photos, as the shower cabin had no doors, which made it hard to shower without actually splashing water all around the bathroom and the toilet had a stuck flush button which got stuck from time to time and needed manual correction, however the design was cool. The kitchenette was cool to have, however, they changed the glasses with not so clean ones, and I'd rather keep them and clean them myself, which I did, as they offered detergent and a sponge, which is nice. The room in general was alright, especially the big closet was awesome, so we didn't have all of our stuff around. There was, however, some construction work from time to time that made it hard to sleep, especially along with the noises or sounds coming from the hotel. It said again on the website that they have soundproof on the walls, but the walls were thinner than air, just like their toilet papers and extremely thin slippers. The room service wasn't always good, but the last time we asked for room cleaning, it was pretty good. The staff wasn't really helpful, except for one woman. Also, the worst part of the hotel was the location. It was definitely the biggest turn off for us, because the streets were horribly broken, with holes everywhere, extremely narrow and busy with cars and people. Especially during rainy days every corner of the streets were filled with mud and muddy water. Sure the hotel was close to the subway station, but it wasn't in a visible, safe place. It was rather in some weird district where police cars came every night to keep the area safe. When we left with our luggages, my husband's luggage was damaged because of the streets and one wheel was terribly broken, so he had to carry his luggage on hand. We had higher hopes for this hotel, but it didn't really meet our expectations. We don't consider...
Read moreYes, this was bad.
I scrolled trough a couple of reviews and the responses of the hotel: "we will do anything to make the guests happy". With all due respect: that is a lie.
We stayed for two nights. First thing we noticed was that the bathroom was really gross, it just was not been cleaned. I went to the reception downstairs, and she was shocked by one of the photos I showed her. She promised to let a cleaner take extra care of it the day after, which was fine by us.
The next day, we came back at 5pm. The room was just how we left it, there was nothing cleaned. Why even bother to make a promise?
Mould on the shower and in the shower cabin; sink was not practical and not properly cleaned. See for yourself at the pictures what I mean. Other things: we had a huge mirror oppositie the bed and we only could hope it was not some hidden camera. A reception desk in the lobby which was so high the staff disappeared behind it - very unwelcome. And how about those hairs on the stairs? It just wasn't cleaned at all.
The staff was nice enough, but perhaps a bit uninterested. I've been to a couple of hotels which sometimes were cheaper than this and where the staff was full of passion, eager to help. These people just looked bored.
I'm sure it can be improved with some better cleaning and better training. For now: it's...
Read moreA honest opinion on my 6 day stay at Riva Hotel
The positive points: it is extremely well located in the center, five minutes from the sea, close to all cafes bed is comfortable The kitchenette is modern and there are basic cooking facilities The Wi-Fi works well although the speed could be higher the staff is incredibly kind and understanding
Here are the points that I regret and that deserve improvement:
the soundproofing is really not great : walls are very thin the first night, I had to go downstairs to ask them to tell the room next door to turn off the TV because the sound was stuck to the wall of my bed (staff was understanding and changed my room the next day) when I was there in October 2025, there was a renovation in progress, I was woken up several times in the morning because of the renovation noise you can see that in the rooms sometimes the furniture has been damaged : marks on the wall, drawers or damaged handles
I think it is a very good Hotel, well managed and the staff is competent. On the other hand, at the infrastructure level of the rooms, if you look at the details, you can see that it lacks a little to become...
