La Puerta Alsancak — Restaurant in Konak

Silly hostess... What was that all about?! I have been to this restaurant several times and always recommended this hostel and restaurant to friends traveling through Izmir. The food is not spectacular but I like the Pad Thai enough to return. The environment is a bit fake, like a Turkish T.G.I. Friday, but that's no big deal either. The hostess however... what a disaster. She was so insincere and pushy I can only imagine she must hate working there. After suggesting we sit in the garden, and taking us to a specific table, she then asked how long we would be staying. RUDE. We were then informed that the table we were sitting at was reserved for 6:30 pm. It was 5 pm at that moment. Fine... but if she was worried about our staying for more than an hour and a half, why did she seat us at that specific table? The entire restaurant was practically empty. Then she returned and put a name card on the table for the reservation that would arrive at 6:30. My boyfriend asked if she could wait until we had eaten before putting the card in the center of out table, and she said no. She had to put it there. After she had seated us. What a moron. I have worked in restaurants as a hostess, server and bartender for the last 15 years and this woman clearly has no clue of how to behave, care for customers or do her job. I will never be back to La Puerta, nor recommend this restaurant to...

This is the only craft tap brew bar in the city, and one of minimal international food hubs. The craft beer is delicious, though pricey. The global cuisine is sub par and inconsistent. The atmosphere is positive, staff friendly, and decor vibrant. However, the awarding of 1 star is due to the frequent scamming by the facility for groups of 3+ people with false items added to the tab. Once, the bar charged my table extra orders for 'people that were certainly us' months ago. Shockingly deceptive and inconsistent with the hospitality that is exhibited in similar establishments...

As a mexican customer coming to this place I feel very disappointed, not only the tequila and mezcal choices are limited to one brand but also the ambient is nothing like a mexican cantina. Manager could not even agree to serve us shots of mezcal ! Only way to consume was asking for cocktail.... Really???
