Would you entrust yourself, your friends, and family in the hands of Kamelya hotel staff that the moment something goes wrong, will pretend they don’t understand English suddenly?
We booked Kamelya Fulya, however funny enough it is actually closed despite being available to book. We booked SPECIFICALLY for FULYA building but was not told beforehand. When we arrived there we were put into the other building also owned by Kamelya called Sentido.
We were placed in a room there and we spoke to the female receptionist Zeynep A. to change it to the room in the terrace (cheap castle looking buildings) which we stayed at last year. We were then told it is closed. HOWEVER we saw people coming and going and even lounging there. So we took photos as proof and went back to confront the receptionist Ilhan Y. who proceeded to repeat the same lie, but this time we showed him pictures of people lounging there and the pool was filled with water and there were people hanging clothes outside the terrace. Caught in his lie he laughed and tried to dismiss us which we then proceeded to take a photo of him which infuriated him and he threatened to call the police. I told him to call the police because I’d be happy to talk to them than these liars. He went back and grabbed another front desk receptionist named Alperen T. who came back out and told us there is problem with the roof of the terrace building and that it is leaking water LOL. SO YOU ARE SAYING YOU LET GUESTS STAY IN A BUILDING WITH ROOF PROBLEM?!! It seems like it is lies after lies and he then took us to Guest Relations who then is more professional out of respect. She then tried to help with the situation and spoke to the front desk and it turned out everything was booked which was the REAL REASON. We were not trying to take advantage of anything and have even offered to pay for the terrace room, money was not ever an issue. I pointed out that if it is all booked then we are okay and respect that but pointed out that my main issue is because I was lied to. Alperen T then proceeded to say they don’t understand English so that it was a “misunderstanding”. I told them I do not believe that one bit and especially he was speaking to me in perfect English and even he lied to me himself.
Alperen T. just because you are stupid, doesn’t mean I am too lol
I came to the conclusion that this hotel just has poor service with little to no respect for their guests. To hammer in this point, just so you all know there is not a single person at the front that will help you with your luggages or show you to your rooms despite them having the trolleys to carry the luggage. Look at the picture I posted and you can see!
It seems like it is a common trend from other people who posted similarly negative experience that the staff will pretend to not understand English to avoid accountability and responsibility for their mistakes. Using bait and switch of allowing guests to book Kamelya Fulya and giving the guests instead Kamelya Selin Sentido is considered fraudulent behavior. Imagine if you were to order a Bentley vehicle and instead you received a Volkswagen vehicle and the person tells you that Bentley and Volkswagen are both owned by the same company Volkswagen Auto Group so therefore giving you a Volkswagen instead of the Bentley that you paid for is okay. Does that even make sense?
By pretending to not understand English when you realized you were in the wrong is not a valid excuse. Management should hire capable front desk staff who can properly communicate with their guests and not use it as a way to avoid accountability. If in an emergency situation this can be dangerous especially for families with children if the staff that you entrust your stay with decides to pretend not to know English to avoid dealing with the situation.
Shards of vases laying on the restaurant floor, kitchen serving raw chicken!
Approached front desk for a map to the pharmacy and immediately Zeynep A. freaked out and asked if photos of her were taken. Zeynep A. seems to be dumb, paranoid, and...
Read moreOur first time in Turkey! We arrived at 8 AM at the Kamelia Selin Hotel 5 stars ! WOW, everything in the first place. The rooms were not ready. When I say "we," i refer to 20 persons, so actually, 5 families. Our luggage were at the reception and they told us that we can take from the luggage and change us at the SPA and can even go to the breakfast. First impressions for food 10+ After that we needed to change to swimming suits.. just imagine 20 people with kids at the reception trying to search..opening and staying down searching for the bikini..towels slippers, etc. This was from our opinion, not a profi thing, and created all around a big chaos. At 10 o'clock..maybe 10:30 AM, it was very hard to support the heat from the sun even if we stayed near to the pools in under the palm trees. We asked constantly if the rooms were ready because the kids had not been sleeping since 12 AM ( aiport-fly-1h with the private bus until Kamelya Selin Hotel) I know this was a bad hour flight and has nothing to do or to charge the Hotel because in the normal way the check in is at 14 but they gave us the rooms at 12:30 PM. After a beauty sleeping, we went back to the pools because the kids enjoyed it in the morning and wanted to go again. From the Spa/Massage we were surprised to speak with someone in Romanian.. a very nice guy named Jan, and he tried to make us an offer for a specific turkisch named Hamam ( I hope i wrote it correct) + relax massage and face mask for the next day. At dinner, everything went so nice and smooth, and we enjoyed staying there. THE ROOMS: from the Kamelya Selin Hotel, 3 of the families were transferred to Terase Kamelia Selin, so actually, the next door hotel, and they moved us to the second floor where we did not have an elevator. This was hard since one of the kids is 3 years old. So actually, we needed to go every time for eating or drinking to the next door. Hotel as a small idea a couple minutes away ( maximum 5). First day, we did not enjoy that. The other 2 families were booked in Selin Kamelya Hotel directly, but they received, unfortunately, other rooms without a balcony with a small window. Without a balcony, it is very hard to dry your clothes. Only at the next day they receive what they actually paid RESTAURANT: Tasty, Turkish excellent food, diversity of food. One thing that we did not like so much was the soups. To poor regarding soups. ROOM cleaning: not so much as the hotel entrance or as you can see in the restaurant. You need to ask the house cleaning when to make or to press the ( please clean room ) Minibar needed to be refilled every day, but our house cleaning forgot to do that same for Towels. For the Beach Towels, we received 4 cards from the reception after receiving the room, and if you lose one of the towel cards, you need to pay 10 euro for it ( not in our case) Snack Bar-oriented on the beach or hotel at the pool or behind the bar . Cafe bar has great coffee/ICE CREAM or cookies and cakes that are so good. Bar: only at Fylulya Bar unfortunately you can smoke shisha for 20 euro. Sometimes the English understanding is a little difficult with those from the bar but at least they are trying hard . I appreciate it. Activities I truly recommend you to install their application and you can find out there what kind of activities they have everyday. For kids or parents starting with Circus , Bingo shows foam party, retro party etc Other ACTIVITIES ( at Fulya hotel you can go with the kids to the Cameleon were you need to pay if the kid wants to play with cars videogames or painting a t-shirt etc) it is near to the amphitheater. If you want BILIARD and Bowling/ 10 euro/h Until day 5 from. 7 of our sejur everything was perfect. Our kids ended with bacterial enterocolitis from the eggs and other ambulance arrived for other kids too. I heard other families with same issue asking them what and when they eated: eggs! Medical insurance is a must!!
SPA: 2nd day great experience ended unfortunately bad because one of the girls has been stolen the earings....
Read moreGood hotel, but not the best. Its ok for the price 600-700 eur per week, but not worth 800-1000 eur or more. We have paid ~3k, for 4 persons (Lithuania).
Long version: The beach room looks outdated and needs refresh. Maybe i didnt like the style of the room. The air conditioner worked with some noise, but it wasnt too annoyng. The bed wasnt soft, and i like soft beds. As always beachrooms has poor noise isolation and we started to hear our neighbours speaking and their kid crying at 8 a.m. We bought beach room with double bed, but got only 2 single beds. On reception they said they have only 2 rooms with double bed and couldnt replace the room. No other suggestions from hotel to compensate this fail, e.g. free massage or free a la carte restaurant. The was suggestion to lay down additional layer on top of beds. Keep it in mind if thats important for you to have doublebed - you most likely wont get it in beach room, take room in the hotel then. From the other side, beachrooms are closest to the sea, maybe 200 meters away. You dont nned to wait for a lift and cruise the long corridors of hotel. The sea was really warm, sometimes even hot 🙂 The water was brownish only on first day when there was average waves, next days it was clear or crystal clear. Air temp was around 38-41. The waterpool was clean and similar temperature like the sea. If you will leave towel near the sea to keep a place for youself, you would find some russian sitting on your reserved place. It happened 2 times in a row. But it havent happened near the pool. The food is ok, but the choice could be better. No fancy things you migt expect from 5 star hotel like seafood or fondue (at least once a week). There was always a choice of 3 or 4 meats, pizza, salad bar. Sometimes you get almost cold meat. But a lot of tasty vegetables, fresh and cooked. Better than average deserts, and a lot of varieties of them. The fruits wasnt so good, grapes wasnt sweet, apricots were green, one time i got sweet melon and watermelon, other tries wasnt so good and it tasted below average. One evening there was cherries available, but we havent seen them anymore. There are 5 a la carte restaurants, and only 1 for free - Turkish. On the day of arrival we have tried to book one and the only available time was 8 days ahead, so we havent any chance to get there. Hopefully other restaurants were only 5-10 eur per person. We have been in mexican and i have liked it, especially fish on hot plate. In general it was better than standard dinner. The hotel and room was clean. One day we found we are on toilet paper shortage 😄 Service wasnt on 5 star level as you need to catch waiter by yourself, or go and bring water and soft drinks by yourself. We waited for more than 20 minutes, but noone came to serve us. Thats why o thinks service is bad. And that repeats every second time. There is available additional servicies on hotel territory, which are additionally paid, e.g. temporary tatoos, popcorn, vafles, ice cream, small shops with very high prices. As well barber, spa. The spa was average for the money and pricey, before you get your discount. Of course it depends on person who gives massage. We have taken hamam and 3x60 min massages. During hamam girls were occasionally talking. During massage, the best practice is never stop contact, but they have stopped e.g. to take oil in farthest corner of the room. The oil as well wasnt warm. As well best practice is to be without shoes, and i can always hear how they were moving. I liked the peeling before hamam with cofee, due to strong and perfect cofee smell. The first two massages were average, not bad but nothing special about it. The last one was good as girl has changed, and massage was nearly perfect 🙂 the way i like. We have liked huge territory, and that you can use all hotel territory, pools, except main restaurants. The territory is huge and green. We have kid but havent used animation, so cant comment anything. As well we havent attended evening shows. Usually we spent time in the evening on...
