We just got back from Merve Sun Hotel. It's not a 4 star more of a 3. We booked a room with a double & single bed, we were given singles, not really a problem we had to arrange the beds etc ourselves,we were helped with baggage on arrival and departure. Rooms and towels were cleaned every day. Ayse on the desk is lovely, don't understand why people are saying she is rude? She was nice with us. We had no problems getting loungers on the day we stayed in the hotel...beach was very relaxing and cooler then around the pool with the breeze...ciggerette butts,in the sand, and little bit of TLC needed, staff at the Merve beach restaurant work very hard. The hotel is mainly catered for the Germans & Russians, with a little more effect this hotel would be a good 4 star. Negatives are as follows: Wifi very hit & miss ( you need to purchase of Turkish sim card) Breakfasts we're poor, no milk for cereal on a couple of days, broccoli & cauliflower for breakfast ?? No fried egg or beans, you can make yourself a toasted sandwich. Dinner & lunches hit & miss,we only had one enjoyable lunch & dinner meal...was extremely disappointed on Saturday night because it was the kebab ( shwarma)night, considering dinner is served from 7-9pm,we arrived for dinner at 7.45pm we stood in the queue, the young chef was standing there and took the large empty metal tray and we assumed to fill it back up with "shawarma"/ kebab,we stood there with other guests for around 5 mins wondering when he was coming back,my hubby went inside to ask and was told NO MORE, GONE....he said to the chef that's very rude you left us standing there and never told anyone, that's bad manners!! The problem is people are so greedy, they fill there plates and leave loads of food,we ended up going out for a meal that night and another. We only seen the main manager when the Russians came in otherwise non existent,in the last 2 days of our stay we had drinks table service, the staff seemed to pick up there game then, annoying when we've most likely paid more money then them...felt like they didn't really care about anyone from UK. Oh and if you want to watch the TV take an ipad or tablet, all channels are German or Turkish only one is English BBC world news! The pool table is 8 euro an hour...not free! 1st time in all the years we've been coming to Turkey you've had to pay for a pool table. Entertainment mainly for kids...so we went out most nights. Overall we had a nice time, the one waitress worked non stop, and she also worked at the restaurant next door, lovely girl and helpful, a few of the staff were friendly and helpful, but not keen on the others especially the one who works the bar &...
Read moreHighly Recommend this hotel!! |I read quite a few bad reviews, was quite worried due to them all but when we arrived there was not 1 bad thing about any of it! ||To start off the receptionist was lovely! We didn’t get his name but he seemed to have been there every night/early morning he was so so welcoming and respectful!! He took our suitcases to our rooms, made sure we liked the rooms and then left straight after, he never refused to ask if we needed anything and always said hello & asked how are are when walking by the main desk!||Secondly the bartender Orhan was also lovely, he always offered us drinks, it got to the point we didn’t need to say a word and he would still bring us a drink over, he’s so funny and always had a laugh with us, he’s only there on a night time as far as I know. ||Thirdly the food was delicious, quite repetitive but it was enjoyable, there wasn’t much British food either, the desserts were lovely also, the chefs and other staff in the restaurant were also nice, they always served with a smile. The soups were always different and also really really nice!||Lastly the rooms, pool, play park, Entertainment & Shops.|||Rooms: They were nice and always cleaned by the cleaners who were also really sweet, they left lovely little gestures on the bed with towels. The AC worked perfectly! The shower was one of the best I’ve had when abroad & the rest of the room was great! We had water in our fridge on arrival and enough space for our suitcases & clothes. It also has a kettle, tea, coffee and sugar & the balcony has a little place where you can hang any of your wet laundry.|||Pool: The pool was lovely! Not one bit of dirt around or in it, the indoor pool is only open during winter though which is understandable. The kids loved the slides and even myself and a couple other adults enjoyed them, they were switched on and off at certain times before and after food.||Play Park: The kids loved the play park, there was nothing wrong with it, it was perfect for the little ones, it has 2 swings, 2 slides, 1 big sea saw and 2 separate ones which again the kids loved. ||Entertainment: The Entertainment was great especially for the kids, the guy who runs the entertainment was okay he was a little bit rude but he was great when it came to the kids entertainment.||Shops: The shops below and around the hotel were good, they didn’t shout at you much or bother you, they had some good things in them and not far of a walk either. A little bit further down the street is a supermarket which is great prices especially if you’re wanting to take some things back with you...
Read morecan say that the whole experience was very unpleasant. from the moment I arrived at the hotel at 11 to 12 at night - the boy/gentleman at the reception was very irresponsible in doing the job properly. we were a group of 27 people, we had 8 family rooms and 3 double rooms and a single room. the booking was created 3 months ago. after I arrived at the hotel, the gentleman who didn't want to say his name (they seem a little taller than me) on April 25, it was at night. He kept us at the reception until 3:30 in the morning because he could not calculate and follow the steps to be able to make the reservations and give us the room key. she was very messy, irresponsible to do her job, very bad English. he spoke very badly, yelled several times at us... it was a very unpleasant experience.|the next day everything was resolved with the manager Hasan who listened, explained and solved the check-in - but to sit at the reception and wait after a 5 hour flight and then an hour from the airport seems like too much. reception was poor on the short man's shift (on the other shifts the tall man was perfect and the lady/miss was cool).|I ate the same food every day, I would say 1 star - sometimes the same food from lunch to dinner/ or maybe they cooked the same food but it didn't taste good sometimes. some food ok.|The waitress , if you offered them money, they served you very nice and smiles if not, don't even bother to smile , sometimes if you asked them for something, they answered back I don’t have time and leave.|sometimes the food wasn't enough, if they ran out of food, they didn’t replace. the rooms are clean and spacious, comfortable beds, air conditioning, bathroom ok - it could be better if they are renovated - the shower cabin in room 4309 is not very well maintained.|my room, for example, was never cleaned, other colleagues were clean, other rooms were not. Clean towels but they don't change them on time or they take them away and then they don't bring them back, they said they don't have clean ones until the next day from reception||The pool is clean, the sunbeds are clean, the bar is ok, sometimes too crowded but ok, the drinks are not very quality but ok.|the activities were 10 out of 10 amazing time fun.|beautiful beach - not very clean but ok. the food at the beach is ok - sometimes better than at the restaurant.||I will not recommend the hotel very bad , bad behaviour from staff and not English speaking. 2 out...
