Lake Heights Hotel is set on Church Road, one of Entebbe's quiet streets. It's ten minutes drive to the airport and you can see Lake Victoria from the rooftop bar (and some of the rooms on upper floor). The hotel is mainly hidden from passers-by. This gives it a nice private feeling. I really liked the gardens and trees full of birds.||I immediately felt relaxed and welcome to the hotel. Every one of the staff was super friendly and professional. I felt very well looked after all the time I was there. Whether it was the young man who brought the iron to my room or the young lady who wanted to close the windows, everyone greeted me with a big relaxed smile.||This was my first visit to Lake Heights and I was impressed. I thought the food was excellent. I ate the buffet lunch which was very good. I stayed on a Thursday and enjoyed the barbecue on the small lawn with stylish live band playing a few popular cover hits and some original Congolese tunes. It was a chilled way to end the day. (The music was not too loud to disturb guests and does not finish late). This is a regular Thursday night event (and I met three ladies who had travelled all the way from KLA just for the evening).||There was an extensive spread of food for breakfast. I met the chef on a couple occasions. I really felt the hotel had a very hands-on approach to everything they do.||I didn't get a chance to swim in the pool but it looks very inviting. It's clearly well maintained. The hotel also has a couple of conference halls and is building an open-air restaurant.||I stayed in room number 19 which had lots of windows and its own beautifully fitted bathroom. There was always lots of hot water in the shower. (There was a bath but I couldn't work out how to fill it!) The bed was extremely comfortable and I slept very well. The doors to the rooms have good security and electronic opening. ||There was a good size safe in the room which allowed me to lock my laptop away. The room had air-conditioning although I didn't need it. I also had TV and tea coffee making facilities.||I really enjoyed my stay at Lake Heights and recommend it. ||The hotel has been open six years. I did notice that one or two aspects of my room decor needed a bit of attention. (Apparently there's a plan to...
Read moreRead moreTo start off, the exterior of the hotel is beautiful and the staff are amazing. ||||Sadly, that is all that the hotel has going for it.||||The room that I was in was located in a corridor that was not lit at all. The room was not well lit either, unlike the pictures shown. Then, the A/C does not work as it should, it is stuck at 24C, with no way of changing it. Throughout the night, you could feel that the A/C just functioned as a fan instead of an actual A/C. Also, I am unsure why, but multiple blackouts occurred during my stay 20 (stayed for about 5 days). Oh yeah, wifi was also pretty bad, kept disconnecting for no reason. ||||The restaurant food is either decent or overly salty. I had the cream sauce pasta (way too salty), chicken burger (also too salty), ceasar salad with chicken (actually decent), onion rings (fine), steak (fine). ||||Breakfast was included, and if you don't go, they'll actually call your room to ask you if want breakfast. Very interesting, but can be annoying if i was still sleeping + One time, housekeeping actually went into my room despite me having hung the do not disturb sign on it. ||||The restaurant area is, honestly, a little dirty and scary. There was a dead fly on top of the glass cup, and a live lizard near the lights (they have like, circular lights that are inside of holes). Since they leave the windows open, spiders and wasps were observed, and honestly, i just ordered room service throughout my stay. ||||Finally, if you like to use the gym, don't. Not here. The gym is pretty much half destroyed, with barely any lighting. Honestly, you might not feel safe in the gym because of all the "openings". You'll understand what I mean by "openings" if you decide to stay here.||||Also, no spa or massage, unlike what was listed on other websites.||||Overall, I would not recommend, unless they do some serious renovations.||||Oh yeah, they also have a "rooftop bar", but...
We had about 24 hours in this hotel before we flew out from 2 weeks in Kenya and Uganda. |We were looking forward to having a gym session in the morning, a late breakfast and taking it slow until a late checkout. |Couldn’t have been more disappointed when we saw the gym. The equipment is at least 30 years old and none in working order. I have never see a treadmill so old and crappy. |This should not be advertised as per of the services at the gym it was an absolute disgrace. Windows were broken, the door to the balcony didn’t lock, the view was over rusted tin roof’s next door. |The booking was for two people. There was a single towel only in the bathroom, 1 glass, no floor mat no face washer no hand towel.|It may have been nice in its day but is now in need of a major facelift. |The view from the rooftop bar was good at least. And the wifi was great. |Definitely not a 4 star hotel. 3 at best in...
