Paula Guest House — Hotel in Gulu

I don't know where to start lol The first night I was there I got mysterious phonecalls from a strange woman saying she "wants my friendship" but she wouldn't tell me her name, after he 3rd freaky call I just turned my phone off. The next day a housekeeper who I had never spoken to before told me it was her and she took my number from the guestbook. |The second morning they knocked on my door 6 times in 1 despite the fact I told them 6 times I was trying to sleep , eventually I got up and got angry. (That actually happened on 2 mornings). |They have a fridge but it's off more than its on, they unplug for hours every afternoon to iron sheets despite the fact there's many other sockets. I could honestly write a book about all the bizarre things in that guesthouse. They don't understand how to calculate nights , for example I paid up front for 7 nights which means I'm paid up until the 8th morning .... That doesn't compute with any of the staff. They have water for guests at 2k a bottle. I settled my water bill on Dec 31st .... I was leaving on the 3rd, I thought I drank between 3-5 waters on the 1st and 2nd .... The director demanded I pay for 15 lol I also had to pay for 2 nights because they don't know how to...

I do not recommend this place at all! Shower heads dont work, cold showers, TV didnt work, no Wifi, toaster was broken so I am not even sure why they had it out. The owner showed up and spoke rudely to her staff. She also conducted her business at the table for guests, Made it hard for all of us to fit at the table for breakfast and have a conversation while she had her paperwork, computer and business associates all there. Sorry but we were paying customers, i would think she would have had better manners - by the way, she had an office she could have used. She also used the veranda all day also having no regards for her paying guests. Very rude! ||The girls that work there were the only good thing about this place. They were very good at what they do and felt very bad for them on how the owner spoke down to them and treated them poorly. ||Next time I will pay a little more and stay...

A team of five of us recently stayed at Paula. This means we had the place to our selves, taking all five rooms. The location is perfect for the hospital where we work and is very close to town. The room are clean with comfortable double beds, nets and a good size wardrobe and TV. The bathroom is fully equipped but it is first up gets the hot water. It is the attention to detail and customer service that makes Paula's stand out from the rest. There is nothing that is too much trouble and there is a genuine feeling of being looked after. I Throughly recommend this place. As a regular visitor to Gulu I wouldn't want to stay...
