I recently stayed at Le Petit Village in Kampala from the 4th to the 11th and occupied two junior suites, Room 6 for myself and Room 8 for my dad. The hotel itself is beautiful, set in a garden-like environment with a lovely pool, tall trees, and greenery that really shows off Uganda's natural beauty. The atmosphere was peaceful, and the rooms were spacious with high, thatched ceilings that gave the place a rustic but modern feel. There are great amenities too—three restaurants (Japanese, Swedish, and general), a spa, a gym, a supermarket, a nail salon, and an ice cream vendor, which all added to the convenience and charm of the place.
However, despite the upscale feel and services, I found a few notable downsides. Noise was one issue. In Room 6, late-night events or parties nearby could be heard until midnight or even 1 a.m., and early morning preaching from outside disturbed my sleep around 6 or 7 a.m. It wasn’t terribly loud, but it was enough to be noticeable if you’re trying to rest. My dad in Room 8 also faced similar noise issues from what seemed to be a nearby village, with sounds continuing late into the evening. This disrupted the peace we were hoping for.
Another major issue for me was the absence of a microwave in the rooms. While they provide a fridge, kettle, and freezer compartment, if you want to heat up your own food, they charge 50,000 Ugandan shillings, which I found absurd considering the price of the stay. The hotel’s explanation was that the chefs or owners were sensitive about heating up outside food, but it still left a bad impression.
The Wi-Fi was another problem. In my dad’s room, the connection was unreliable, and even in mine, it would cut out frequently. There are multiple networks to connect to, but you'd find yourself having to switch often.
In terms of the room layout, while the design was generally nice, I found it strange that extension cords were running past the shower area, which was behind the bed. It felt odd and slightly unsafe having electrical cords near the shower space.
On the positive side, the staff was very kind and helpful. The laundry service was fast and affordable, often returning the same day. Room service, while courteous, was a bit slow at times—like waiting 15-20 minutes for ice to be delivered, which was a little disappointing. But they were always ready to assist with calling a taxi or other needs. The security at the hotel was great as well, with armed guards at the gate ensuring that the premises remained private and safe.
Overall, while Le Petit Village had some lovely aspects, I don’t think I would stay there again. It was quite expensive, and the noise disturbances, Wi-Fi issues, and that ridiculous charge for warming up food really affected my experience. For the price, I expected more peace and...
Read moreI hate to provide negative information, but I am finding no alternative to my issues. My lady and I plan to arrive there on November 2nd. It’s a joyous occasion because I plan to ask my lady for her hand in marriage at the restaurant that same evening. I contacted the hotel and requested the room be done up romantically before we arrive, and again after we are engaged at 19:00 that evening. I was told the cost would be one hundred dollars for the room being made up romantically both times, which I gladly paid! The following day I called to ensure my third request was taken care of. Again, I requested having the (Romantic Package) booked for Sunday, November 3rd. It would be the day after our engagement, and it’s my birthday. Unfortunately I’ve been unable to get anything properly taken care of since attempting to deal with the person the second day I contacted the hotel! He attempted to try to charge me two separate charges for the two Romantic decorations I had already paid for. He claimed the price was incorrect, but attempted to charge me more each time, up to twice as much. He seemed extremely confused when I requested the (Romantic Package) I had sent a screenshot of their own add a few times. I explained that I wanted the (Romantic Package) that’s supposed to include a bed and breakfast but since I already had a more upgraded room I merely wanted the difference in the price so I only paid for the In-Room Couples Massage Included! The In-Room Dinner For Two With a Personal Waiter Included! And the In-Room Decorations Included. Although, I’ve attempted dealing with the hotel staff to arrange the Romantic decorations before we arrive and after were engaged after 19:00, and the (Romantic In-Room Package) minus the room and breakfast fees. Yet absolutely no one has been able to help assist me with my three simple requests! It’s been five days with being given incorrect information, being offered the wrong (massage package) and given different charges. I had requested to be given the Managers contact information. I had to ask three if not four times. I left a lengthy message with the manager, but to no avail! It’s been two days and the manager hasn’t bothered to contact me. I currently have over a hundred thousand members on social media. I had planned to show the world our engagement at this hotel, but now it seems that I’ll just be informing everyone how they don’t help their guests here, especially during a once in a lifetime occasion where you pray everything goes perfectly! I’m still hoping someone can properly assist me with my requests...
Read moreI stayed here with my husband for two nights on the recommendation of a friend and we found it a very charming oasis in the middle of bustling Kabalagala. The location is also convenient. We had a business room on the second floor - it was super spacious, with a desk, a big bed, a super comfy lounge chair, teamaker, coffeemaker, closet. I found the light in the room a bit bright and the pillows too big and didn’t manage to adjust the a/c to less cold but other than that the room was very comfortable. There was also a lovely terrace with a view over the roofs of the area. The bathroom was nice, except there was no hot water on our second morning - apparently that’s due to the fact that they are solar powered. We asked for a blow dryer at the reception which was no problem. The have the very nice Kenyan Cinnebar cosmetics (shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, hand wash) except no body lotion. |The backside of the hotel can be noisy with cars honking, goats, chickens etc. - the cottages are probably quieter but also buggier. Anyway, it didn’t bother us too much.|We loved the spa - the location is great up on top of a cottage - Barbara, Sarah and Isaac spoiled us and it was so relaxing. I would highly recommend a spa treatment! The pool looks lovely but we didn’t use it. They also have a super nice gym.|The front staff were kind and efficient. The breakfast was nice but the staff there were rather slow. Took a long time for a coffee order to arrive and utensils were sometimes missing (for fruit, porridge or spoons on the table). But they have a nice buffet with lots of options and the porridge and dawa are the best. |The compound is super convenient as well with three restaurants and a gourmet supermarket as well as a hairdresser and a gift shop. We...
