We have booked this place two months in advance and have payed up front. On arrival we get to hear that our requested room has an issue with water damage and that they will send us over to a different hotel ( far less good looking and below the rate per night we spend here), which is managed by the same company. Completely different ambiance, first look etc. After back and forth and obvious refusal we have received a new different room located further but at the same hotel. When the reception told me the second time already , that someone is arriving in one minute ( 15 minutes passed ) I just went outside to check out the area. After 3 times and 40 minutes we finally get the keycards. Upon 2 min of arrival in our studio, the management is calling to ask how we like the room. ( thanks for the gesture but after two minutes we can’t say anything). What I can say after two nights out of 4 so far is: complimentary 2 person 20 minute Lava Stone Spa treatment voucher after this theater of arrival, is a joke since it’s only valid for 24h. Thanks anyway, but that’s like giving me dead flowers. The room and architecture outside is looking amazing on the first look, but is absolute garbage on second look. Two random fire alarm drills, one written announcement for 12 pm, but one alarm the day before that around 9ish pm ( I was napping thanks for that lol). The shower or potentially the air con smells moldy(pre 4th night update- my nose is bleedy, my gfs was yesterday ). the tiles aren’t even and potentially I’d stub my toe there. The bathtubs silicone around it, looks like my first attempt at the age of 15 to mess around with silicone to isolate or do some dampening. Completely zigzag and offset :) The toilet buttons are getting stuck all the time.( both main and guest bathroom). My bed has a single socket in range for a charging cable, only if i unplug the digital alarm clock. Balcony/terrace has its small flaws ( chair pillow stains, sloppy work on walls and tiles again). When I exit the, I’ll call it apartment, there was a guy casually sealing the tiles without any mark so I could just straight up step into his work :) Next day they had a sign. Generally this place is a maze for someone who is bad with orientation ( which im not but i’ll just mention it ). The outside main entrance area has no trashbins whatsoever, after asking for it I got guided into a side door to the hotels garage where there’s an actual bin. When asking what to do with my cigarette butt, i get a: "Just throw it into the sewer". No trashcan for the hotel, littering promoted but meanwhile I see multiple Brabus, Porsche, Lambos and a Hellcat parked 2 meters away within the same street im walking. Next door there's a not too noisy constructionsite, and there are helicopters passing and landing every 5 minutes towards the atlantis. Not so quiet in the end, sitting on the balcony/terrace atleast. Nighttime super quiet in the room I’ll give you that. The beach club area included in my stay looks amazing, the private beach has a great view, so so far that's the only positive thing, besides the spacious apartment style hotel room. Which is spacious only. The beach club has also a somewhat weird system where hotel guests have a reserved area at the pool and beach. We’ve got told that unfortunately the hotel guest area is full. Not sure if that means that we can’t go anywhere else, but there was plenty of space with no...
Read moreThe information I am sharing pertains to a "5 Star" hotel. Unfortunately, the overall experience was completely underwhelming.
The room exceeded my expectations and matched the online images accurately. It was spacious, clean, and equipped with all the essential amenities for a studio room. However, the view was not ideal, as villas obstructed it, and being on the first floor limited the overall scenery.
The service was unacceptable! From very slow room service to housekeeping entering my room twice despite the DND sign being clearly displayed on the door. Even after being warned following the first incident, the intrusion happened again. There was even a button next to my bed that controlled the DND or housekeeping status, and it was set to DND as well.
I encountered parking issues during my stay at the hotel. Despite the promise of guaranteed garage space, the parking lot was full when I returned late one evening. Security directed me to park in a public area, which was disappointing given the limited availability of valet service after a certain hour. Additionally, when I attempted to retrieve my car from valet on another occasion, there was a significant delay. Many guests, including myself, waited over 30 minutes. To avoid further delay, I had to insist on receiving my car keys to move it myself. Upon reaching my car, I found it blocked by another vehicle, and this issue affected several other cars as well. These experiences highlight the hotel's failure to provide efficient parking and valet services, crucial for a five-star establishment.
As a prestigious 5-star establishment, it is imperative that the hotel anticipates and manages high occupancy periods effectively, such as during Hajj Eid, based on my recent experience. Ensuring seamless and efficient service during peak times is paramount to maintaining guest satisfaction. Unfortunately, my stay revealed several shortcomings in this regard. Despite the promising initial impression of the room's cleanliness and amenities matching online descriptions, significant issues arose. Slow room service and repeated breaches of the Do Not Disturb sign by housekeeping were particularly disappointing. Moreover, the hotel's inability to provide guaranteed parking during busy periods added further inconvenience. These experiences underscore the critical importance for the hotel to uphold its standards consistently, especially during times of heightened demand, ensuring every guest experiences the expected level of luxury and service synonymous with a 5-star rating.
The hotel did not meet expectations. Issues included obstructed views, repeated Do Not Disturb violations by housekeeping, and inadequate parking despite promises. Consider alternatives for better service and...
Read moreWhat we liked about Wyndham Residences The Palm
-Quiet Location next to the beach and interesting arhitecture of the residencial building -Spacious room with useful aminities -Food was ok -Housekeeping did a good job -Judith from kids club was friendly and helpful -nice coffee shop (Risen) -has a 24/7 farmacy and a small supermarket -complimentary shuttle service to and from Dubai and Emirates Mall.
Unfortunately there were some pretty dissapointing things as well: -Upon arrival we asked for a baby cot for at least 3 times on the first day, but only received it on the second day after further pressure (we did tip aswel) -The restaurant only has two baby chairs, and there were a lot of families with babies -The service at the restaurant (24 eatery) is a joke and it is quite outdated. More than a few times the tables were not cleaned, not even after we sat down and food or bevarages that we ordered were always forgotten about. -The main issue with this hotel is the beach club policy . Soluna Beach mainly belongs to Balqis Residence (Wyndham only owns a part of the whole residencial building) We paid for complimentary beach acces and on the first day when we asked for towel voucher they tried to send us to the beach of the hotel next door . They offer a -25% off all services there to try and make up for sending you next door, i think 😂 For us that was not an option as we had small children and needed to be close to our room. After questioning the beach club and the reception a few times, we undersrood Wyndham only owns a few sunbeds at Soluna. The beach at the 8 hotel is very different, no kids pool and a totally different vibe. Nevertheless everyday there are lots of tourists from other hotels. They came with big buses for a day at the beach. (At soluna beach). The guests there had limited access but other hotels from far away had acces (because they pay?) Fortunately we went early every morning and were able to get a voucher for Soluna on almost all days. But were offered the voucher for Fluid beach club every time before and we had to explain every day why we don’t want it. A nuissance… One afternoon after coming back from a walk we wanted to eat at Soluna while the kids played in the pool and although the lady at the beachclub said they still had room for Wyndham guest we were refused a towel voucher from the reception. I felt a lack of respect and bad service from front desk on almost all occasions. It felt like they dont have the best interes of the guest at heart. -The rooms need maintanance
Overall it was satisfactory, but certainly not a 5...
