I CANNOT STRESS TO YOU ENOUGH HOW MUCH YOU SHOULD AVOID THIS HELLHOLE! ||Myself and a friend have stayed here twice, the first time was fine (you get what you pay for but overall, it was fine) the place is unkempt and cheap feeling the second you see it but it’s cheap and there is a possibility it gets the job done, visit at your own risk. The second time was again fine, however on Saturday the 19th we were in bed ready to sleep when there was someone lurking and banging around the fire escape door to our room. We were very frightened incase they tried to get in, this person then disappeared. The next thing we knew the fire alarm went off at midnight (leading into Sunday 20th). Understandably stressed as we were exhausted I went downstairs to find out what was going on. There was a security guard who had no idea what was going on or how to stop the alarms from going off. I waited outside while my friend came down to meet me. It was cold and pouring with rain, so we sat in my car. The alarms didn’t stop, men came and went and still there was no joy. We were stuck outside in the rain in our pyjamas. This lasted for TWO HOURS. It stopped just as we were going back to the room to get our things and leave. ||We went back to the room and decided to stay since it was now 2am. During this time I spoke to the security man who was saying the boss won’t do anything to help, that he was embarrassed to be working there and wouldn’t be going back. I had spoken to multiple staff (the security guard and another man who was a staff member, unsure if he was the boss or manager) and explained to them regarding the person outside our fire door, and when we had evacuated the room there was a man standing directly outside our door who told us to “just go back inside there’s nothing to worry about” while there is a deafening alarm going off! How anyone could tolerate that noise for more than a couple of minutes I’ll never know. This man never came outside so god knows what he was up to! I’m assuming he was the one outside the fire door.||The next morning the “boss”? Manager? Came and woke us up knocking the door to tell us we could have a free stay next time we came, which we thought was great! Especially since we hadn’t complained or anything, we were very impressed with the initiative. ||Arrive to now where we are actually trying to take the free stay and also book some nights there which we would obviously pay for. ||I manage to get hold of a “manager” who sounded like he was drunk and/or in a party/club/ crackden??? Who just so happened to be the most rude and disrespectful person I’ve ever spoken to. In a voice that was almost trying to taunt me I was told “look, you ain’t having no free stay” I was also accused of setting off the alarm in the first place, and also accused of having “10 people” in my room. Obviously this wasn’t the case and I have photographic evidence, evidence via video and messages to my friends which can prove that none of this is the case, all of which are date and time stamped. ||Whilst trying to understand what this moron was saying, he kept talking over me and hung up. I rang back, he spoke to me and hung up again, so I rang back again. I was told I was being “investigated”. If they have CCTV they will clearly see only myself and my friend were there. ||This place is a shambles and a disgrace and I have no idea how they...
Read moreWe stayed here over the new year and while the price was great for the amount of nights we stayed, the state of the accommodation was very poor. On the first night whilst settling in, I found myself walking around the suite with something sticky on the bottom of my sock, which turned out to be the previous customers food that was still on the kitchen floor (or the previous customer before them, depending on when it was last cleaned). The floor never got cleaned or hoovered during our stay. The oven was disgusting and definitely had at least the last 10 customers crumbs in there. There was a massive lack of kitchen supplies, not even providing saucepans (because who takes their own saucepans to a suite), so who knows how we would cook anything on the hobs, but both this and the oven lead us to eat out more than we planned, spending more money. One night we accidentally split a drink on the sofa and on cleaning this up it turned out we were actually removing the dirt off the sofa so we ended up with a clean patch of sofa. The radiator in the lounge did not work, and being the middle of winter and turning up to the suite with the windows open we were less than impressed. The toilet did not flush properly and the amount of mould in the shower was shocking. The shower floor had been duct-taped so was obviously not safe to be standing on and the sink was not cleaned throughout our stay either and still had the marks there from our first night till our last. We asked for toilet roll one morning at the reception, and whilst waiting over an hour we managed to find someone in the corridor who then brought it us straight away. The walls in the bedroom were extremely thin and I could hear word for word next doors conversation, which isn’t great for anybody’s privacy. The location of the suite to Cannock and motorway links is excellent, however it is not best placed over the top of a nursery where the kids are outside from 9am-6pm. The main door to the building isn’t very secure and anybody could walk in. We had a choice between this and the premier inn and we chose here due to the massive difference in price, which we now understand why it was so reasonable, and also the fact it has kitchen facilities thinking we could eat in most nights which we didn’t end up doing due to the state of the room, but we wish we had paid that extra for the premier inn as there we know what we are expecting. We also liked the fact that there was free WiFi available but this just did not work for the whole duration of our stay. I would probably rate this a 2/10 which is such a shame because on first impression the room seemed adequate for the amount spent, but on further inspection it is just not up...
Read moreThis place is an excellent idea that was probably well executed to begin with but has been poorly maintained since so now gives a fairly poor experience. It just about did the job for me given that I was travelling through necessity during the COVID-19 lockdown so just needed something sufficiently like home that I didn't mind spending 7-10 days in - a small single hotel room would have been a bit claustrophobic. So I like the fact it has a separate bedroom, plenty of space for hanging clothes, a desk, sofa and decent TV, a separate shower room and a kitchenette with a full-size fridge freezer, small oven, hob, kettle and even a dishwasher. However, every lampshade was broken and would fall off if moved, there was a single armchair that you couldn't sit on because it had been treated with something to give it that 'distressed' look and the plastic covering came off all over your clothes if you went near it. There was a grill-pan handle but no grill pan, no utensils or oven trays so I couldn't use the grill, oven or hob. For an 11 day stay I was given only 1.5 small toilet rolls, 1 small sachet of soap and shampoo, no-one came in to restock them and there was no staffed front-desk. Every vertical blind in the place was broken so loads of light came in and someone had obviously done an electrical repair in the bathroom before I got there because there were tiny sharp pieces of copper wire all over the bathroom floor and no broom or brush to sweep it. It was generally grotty with a fairly disgusting stain on the ceiling where someone seemed to have thrown something at it. The WIFI was also not working and the Vodafone coverage was flaky at best so I found it very difficult to work from there. All in all, this place could be a nice budget retreat if it had a little care and attention given to the maintenance...
