Tamarind Restaurant — Restaurant in Cannock Chase

I booked a table for my daughter’s birthday, which included a surprise guest who we’d planned would arrive a little later than us. I arrived early and went into the restaurant to explain about the surprise guest and to hand over the cake, that I asked to be brought out once we’d finished our meals. The main personality of the whole evening was the superb waitress; Demi! She knew exactly what I was asking for regarding the surprise and assured me that all would go to plan. Once it was time to be seated, Demi was totally professional, as well as continuing to keep the expected, secret guest appearance a surprise. Demi has a great sense of humour and is extremely friendly & helpful. I can’t thank her enough, for making my daughter’s special night just perfect! Demi is most definitely an asset to this beautiful restaurant & we will definitely be returning again. The food was absolutely delicious (though portions slightly smaller than we’re used to) & the service from all staff was second to none. The dining area was spotlessly clean and well organised. Our first time here , had friends over from Leicestershire . The restaurant was spacious , chairs were very comfortable, the atmosphere was just nice , we could chat at the table and enjoy a conversation we could actually hear , we all agreed that the meals were very well balanced in flavour ,myself and my friend had the garlic chilli chicken , and the ladies had a chicken bahar with a full perfectly cooked boiled egg . Sundries were flavoursome however we all thought the portion sizes were fairly small in comparison with any other restaurant we have used , and we've eaten at many Indian restaurants around the UK .. so if your a light eater (age 10 child size) then you would be fine , but if your like us you could do with some more then maybe bulk your meal up with extra rice . Always enjoyed visiting the Tamarind but this time was a disaster I'm afraid. The heating must have broken as it was absolutely freezing! One woman was wearing her coat while eating, but no one seemed to address the issue or speak to the customers about it. Waited 40 minutes for starters, even though it didn't seem busy and another 20 minutes for mains. Starters were lovely but mains were average and naan bread looked like it was from asda.
