Costa Coffee Drive-through — Restaurant in Cannock Chase

Edited: 26th Oct 2024: Went back to try indoors and have to say I was very pleased this time so I have awarded two more stars.

The barista did a great job on a Flat White and our Cappuccino was well expect with a perfect circle of foam in the centre with good milk texture. I was so pleased and felt that coffee had been carefully assembled rather than thrown in a cup for me. Staff were friendly, good atmosphere inside and the Toasted tea cake was yummy too.

Costa is getting more dissatisfying with each visit. I have noticed this at Costa Hednesford and Cannock so far and now avoid Costa where possible. I would get a better coffee from Gregs nowadays. Why? Because in short the baristas are either poorly trained, under paid / overworked, or lack any kind of pride in their work. The milk texture is so far away from what it should be in an average Latte and it is literally thrown in cup. I don't expect miracles from a takeaway but when going to a huge brand that charges a premium I do expect quality. Every visit lately I am being dissappointed in the quality and feeling a bit ripped off. I don't the the staff are at fault in this, I think it's how the business is being operated that's creating this lack of enthusiasm for delivery a goid...

Just been to the drive through to order a Peach Flavour Iced Lemonade, had to tell the guy 3 times what I wanted and then he asked me 'Was it a large Peach Iced Tea you wanted?' ... 'NO it's a Peach Iced Lemonade I want' then he said 'oh we don't do those anymore, erm well I can't make them.... no we've been told we can't do them anymore' I asked to look at the card board menu they normally have by the tills and he told me they haven't got one of those. I asked if they did the Iced Lemonades then and he said no they don't do them anymore. Well that's a bit weird as I only had one yesterday! I also checked their website and it still has the Iced lemonade range on ther! Staff obviously need training if they don't even know what they serve and just pretend they don't do it anymore rather than just admit they can't do it or didn't know...

Couldn't fault my recent visit here. Coffee was just as I would expect from a Costa, tasty and hot! I chose to "drink in" but there is a drive through. There was a clear Entrance and Exit for one way traffic in the store, hand sanitizer at the entrance, stickers on the floor to help with social distancing, and appropriate barriers in place too. The tables were set out appropriately inside, but I chose to drink outside as it was a lovely day. There were tables clearly marked with which ones you could or couldn't use - the labels stated that you should use them so the staff knew which ones to sanitise between visits, but during my hour long visit, I saw no cleaning (sanitising) happening outside and witnessed several different groups use the same tables. Overall though the visit was just as I would expect...
