If you have any sense, DO NOT STAY AT THIS HOTEL. There's something very strange going on here. Firstly, the concept of a reception-less hotel, whilst it might be marketed as easy, just enter your code and pick up your keys and you're in - it's not - what if the email they promise with the code doesn't appear like it didn't in our case? Then you try and find someone who speaks English - good luck with that - then you need to speak to someone about something that doesn't work in your room, forget it. The original email's text was so small that we had to take a photo on one of our phones and enlarge it just so we could just about make out what was written. We ordered drinks at the bar, neither of the barmen had a clue, they didn't speak English, one of them didn't know how to pour a beer, it splashed all over the place - not the cheapest round of drinks either. We sat outside, in a grassy space in front of the hotel, next to a noisy main road, it couldn't be called a garden as all the plants had died, the plant pots were full of weeds, it looked like somewhere that had formerly been cared for and had falled on hard times and was probably bought by this strange outfit.
The worst part was to come. We went up to our rooms after dinner (in a very sparse restaurant that served only Italian type food by Southern Asian staff), and heard bumping and creaking above us - it was people walking up and down and was very loud - we soon realised that the staff had their quarters up on the top floor and therefore any room below was going to be subject to their movements which ended up being all night - we barely got any sleep. It was a warm evening so I opened my windows (there was no air con in the room), and the smoke from the staff standing outside wafted up through my window. After very little sleep I woke up to have a shower, the shower barely worked, it was just a trickle. We grabbed our stuff and left as soon as we could. The odd thing was that there didn't seem to be any guests there apart from us. There were a lot of very nice cars lined up outside the hotel, with several staff getting in and out of them. Something didn't feel right. Judging from some of the responses from management to customers who have posted negative reviews, the management do not seem to care about their customers at all, so I would say, book...

Read moreThis little hotel is surprisingly good. I wouldn’t say it’s a top notch boutique hotel like some with sumptuous bed linen, fluffy towels and quirky nick nacks. Granted there is miss match furniture, but you can tell every effort is made to keep this hotel clean and spotless. I wouldn’t say say it’s only the little things that let it down like a very old toilet brush in my bath room, some of the grouting just needs whitening and up in a corner of the ceiling the paint is peeling. My bed is comfy. It’s a very spacious room too. Gad a lovely warm bath. The shower wasn’t very powerful but still did the job of washing my hair. It’s a great place to stay as a base and easy visiting the surrounding villages, Cotswolds, Gloucester and near by Cheltenham. This evening I popped to the Dunkerton Cider Park. Such a lovely vibe as soon as you walk in with lots of different food stalls bars, and a bakery, deli shop on site selling hand made fresh artisan products and ciders wines. There even had a band on. Have to say for a one nights stay without breakfast was £57 as I’m solo travelling. Their restaurant menu has ample choice. Definitely worth staying. But don’t expect the higher end boutique hotels in this hotel and I definitely recommend anyone...
