Bobby's Bunkhouse — Hotel in City of Edinburgh

We laughed at the bad reviews but went anyway because it was just £12 on NYEE. ||The alleyway leading to the hostel was littered with fag ends and rubbish but that crap on the street doesn’t stop at the entrance, the floors are dirty throughout.||The hostel itself is brightly coloured, there is a communal area at the entrance that had someone’s kids playing around in. ||Our 2 bed dorm was perfect for us and great at the price, we had electronic keys to unlock our room with lockers inside to store securely, a tv a mirror and bunk beds, you couldn’t swing a cat but we didn’t need to do that.||The shower rooms had fancy jet wash showers in which confused the hell out of me, the plug hole could do with a clean out as the shower tray drained very slowly, the door lock had bust so someone walked in on me naked which wasn’t ideal.||There was a weird smell in the air that stung the back of my throat. I read another review saying they could smell drugs, if it’s drugs it’s definitely not weed but whatever it was I’m glad we only stayed one night.||We didn’t use the kitchen so I’m unable to comment but I know there was a kitchen to use as well as a vending machine.||✔️ We were able to leave our bags in a locked cupboard as we arrived really early so could drop and explore the city.||✔️ Very cheap price.||✔️ Good...

I booked a private room with 2 single beds online. Upon arriving I was told there were no private rooms left. Another couple were having the same issue. The only available room was a mixed 8 bed dorm. I asked if we could have a discount as we were promised one thing and given another, the worker refused and said he couldn’t give any discount despite the issue. As all other hostels were booked we had to stay in the mixed dorm.

The worker did provide a personable tour of the facilities before showing us the room. The room smelled awful. There was garbage on the floor, it didn’t look like it had been cleaned in days. The bed sheets looked dirty. The bed was pretty comfortable.

For the price the accommodation was as expected. £12 flat rate during the week and £14 during the weekend no matter what room type. Very close to city centre, pubs and night clubs. Not very good security. The front door was locked and we were given a key but all room doors were left unlocked throughout the night. There were lockers in the room but they did not lock (even with the lock I brought).

If I was given the private accommodation I booked and payed for it would have been better. Facilities were not very...

We only stayed a night at Bobby's Bunkhouse.... Much to my disgust! I will not recommend anyone person readiing this post to stay at them. We First me and my family were booked in 3 seperate rooms... Then we where moved to the room next to the smoking area. That room's door did not lock. We had a activity that night so our belongings where open to anyone who wanted to go into our room. So when I wanted to place my stuff in the lockers to feel more safe... it had dirty underwear. Meaning they don't clean the lockers at all!!! The wifi sucked. We had to sit in the reception area to use it.

The coffee machine did not work, don't let me start with the kitchen!!! I told my sister we can buy breakfast. I refused to eat there.

The showers was nice, but had that creepy feeling that we were watched....

When we to sleep we slept in our clothes that we were gonna wear the next day... The sooner we left the better
