Amazing food and wine made even more special with such incredible service! It's worth noting there are two Italian restaurants in this building. This restaurant at the bottom is called Divino, and one at the top and middle floors called Vittoria. Both restaurants are part of the same company, but this restaurant (Divino) is streets ahead of Vittoria in both food and service quality. The waiting on staff in Divino are so friendly and attentive. When walking into the restaurant and to the table, every member of staff we passed stopped and greeted us. Throughout the meal they would always have a friendly smile and would continually check (at the right times) to see if we were OK. They were also very knowledgeable about the food and wines they were serving. The service definitely increased the enjoyment of the meal. The food was equally excellent. We went for the carrarese sharing focaccia to start, which had a slight chewiness to it that was a nice mouth feel, it had lots of flavour, the honey walnuts being a favourite part of it. I went for the spaghetti carbonara for main which had a rich creamy cheesey flavour, which was oh so moreish! The pasta was cooked aldente, which I enjoyed. My wife went for the tuna salad and said it was delicious, really great flavours and the tuna was so fresh. We got a side of the mushrooms that had loads of earthy, herby, and garlic flavours. We went for the creme brulee for dessert, which was very nice. The cherries we found a little too sweet though and thought it may be better without them. A bit of shortbread would have been nice instead. We went for the Soave white wine, which was amazing, so flavourful. And the Barolo, which again was an incredible wine. They finished off the meal with a free shot of lemoncello, which was lovely and well received. The meal was for my wife's birthday, so we did splash out a little. Our bill came to just under £226 but for the quality of the food and service, we felt it was worth it. Highly recommend...
Read moreCouldn’t recommend this place enough. From the moment you walk in to the moment you leave, it’s a full-on experience — warm, welcoming, and memorable. We were greeted by smiling staff, but a special shoutout goes to our server, Christopher, who truly went above and beyond.
He not only recommended amazing dishes but kept us laughing throughout the night. He even brought over his favourite wine and gave me 2 glasses of it — even though it wasn’t on display. That level of care and attention made him easily the best server I’ve had all year, and he deserves real recognition.
Now onto the food: from starters to mains, the flavours were rich, vibrant, and felt home-cooked. The beef cheek, in particular, was melt-in-your-mouth tender. If you’re dining with a partner, I highly recommend splitting your mains — the servers will halve them for you at the table so you can sample more of the menu. Our second dish was the ragu, and it was just as incredible.
The wine card is another highlight — it allows you to try a range of wines for just £2–£4 as a taster then if you like it get the full glass for around £11-22 a glass, helping you find your perfect match. That said, if you’re lucky enough to have a server like Christopher, their recommendations might just steal the show.
The setting is dimly lit and cozy, with a fireplace near our table adding a warm, intimate touch. Even the seats were extra comfy — they’ve really thought of everything.
In conclusion: If you’re craving authentic Italian food in Edinburgh — come here. If you love carefully curated wines — come here. If you appreciate good vibes and staff who genuinely enjoy what they do — absolutely come here.
We’ll definitely be returning next time we’re in...
Read moreThe guy who greeted us at the door and the girl at the bar were both lovely! The steamed mussells were "meh" it was my first time trying and i really dont get the hype, no flavour what so ever. We were served by a blonde waitress who is a very good sales person, asking do you want some bread, not explaining you would have to pay £6 for it. The mains were lovely! The tiramisu was very dissapointing, couldnt taste any alcohol or coffee at all, it just tasted wet? So cream and wet... lovely! We were at this point really dissatisfied with the service, 2 servers walked past us several times, looking down at the hardly eaten dessert and not acknowledging it. Once our server finally did come, my friemd said it was "ok" i said it wasnt for me, she didnt acknowledge that it hadnt been touched or our responses werent exactly positive. Overall i would return but id be ordering different starters and desserts! The wine was lovely and the old fashioned cocktail was delicious!!!
further to me putting this review up the restaurant has contacted me and attempted to bribe me with a £50 voucher based on me removing this review, i explained the review was genuine and they invited me to review my experience, they explained this is because they assumed we had enjoyed every aspect, i declined to remove the review and they told me i would not received the £50 voucher, i will not be dining here again based on this terrible customer experience and i would not reccomend...
