The Story — Restaurant in Dacorum

Right, let me set the scene. I was in the area for a job and needed to grab a quick breakfast. I popped into this little unassuming cafe, and was seated by a very cheerful woman behind the till. I ordered what should have been a simple scrambled eggs with crispy bacon with a coffee and the rest is history. First, a beautiful coffee arrived (albeit in a cup with an impossible handle) and was served very politely. As I took in its aroma, I heard the opening few bars of Total eclipse of the Heart begin to play across the speakers. I enjoyed a few sips before my plate arrived. Beautiful fresh avocado, the BEST scrambled egg I have ever had. It was like a folded, omelettey blanket across the toast that fell apart as I sliced through it. The bacon was PERFECT, crisp and salty and though I am normally not a fan of 'posh stuff' I thought I would take a gamble and try the pomegranate seeds that were served on the plate with it. The burst of sweet, the crisp salty bacon, the warming egg and toast, the sharp fresh avocado... I polished off the lot, paid, and exited with the sound of Hold the Line by Toto coming through the speakers. I found myself in a strange daze where I had to announce to my colleagues that 'I think have just had the perfect breakfast', which is a strange thing to say on a High Street on an unassuming Saturday morning. I made a point to go back and say thank you, and I promised them a review. So here it is. Give then your money, all of it, £13.20 I paid for what can only be described as Breakfast Perfection... Used to be good but not anymore. Only a 50/50 chance of them making your coffee right as hardly any of the staff can do it properly. They seem more concerned with chatting to their friends who have popped in for a chat than actually serving customers, often leading to a long wait for drinks (even at the quietest of times). Standards are dropping really quickly and it seems a lack of supervision & management is at fault

Luckily there is a much better coffee shop next door!

Edited 5/5/22. I decided to return and give it another try as I had hoped they would have improved. Waited nearly 10 minutes to be served by a girl with ridiculous lip filler, only for her to walk away halfway through my order. Someone else eventually took my order. I waited over 15 minutes, watching them give priority to people that had come in after me. When I raised this, I was told "they ordered takeaway", as if it made any difference. I counted 4 customers that were served before me despite coming in afterwards. Eventually I asked for a refund and went next door (served immediately, drink made straight away).

This is before I even begin on the almost constant presence of what seems to be a group of people smugglers sat outside their cafe, staring at...

Myself and my mother have been having lunch here every Wednesday for a few years now but recently it has started to be less and less welcoming and hit a new low this Wednesday when we arrived and sat at a table only to be ignored. 1 Young lady was standing behind the counter with her arms folded and yawning while the other was busy making drinks etc. At first we though they were busy and would get to us when they had a minute but that wasn't the case and as soon as another couple came in and sat down the lady that was making the drinks went straight over to them to greet them and give them menus. At this point myself and my elderly mother got up and left but at no point did either of the ladies even acknowledge us arriving or leaving. I must add that the food has always been very good but this experience has been awful and I did message the cafe to let them know about this before posting this review but have received no...
