Cheap - but still not worth the price.
The only good thing about the hotel was the staff. They were all friendly and helpful.
The hotel itself is terrible. I've stayed at a lot of hotels over the years and this was by far the worst. On entering the room, the first thing you notice is the carpet. It wasn't just the stains and well worn look to it. There were lots of bits on the floor so it evidently hadn't been cleaned recently. I turned the lights on to find that two of the four lights didn't work. Being too late to change hotel I decided to put the kettle on and stick my phone on charge. That was when I found the next problem. The room only has one plug socket for guests to use! When you do make a drink, they only provide paper cups and wooden stirrers. Why? It's not like they were trying to save cleaning time so they can use it to clean the carpets! When I went to sit down on the little wooden chair, I noticed just in time that even that was broken. Even the curtain had stains all over it. In the bathroom, one of the two lights didn't work and neither did the heater. Shower soap and hand soap are in little dispensers bolted on the walls. The hand soap dispenser was empty and the shower dispenser was covered in dirt. The sink was cracked and the towels provided are tiny. There was a small wall light by the wardrobe but... you guessed it.... it didn't work either! They seemed to have saved the best for last though. When I did go to bed, I had to sleep diagonally across it to avoid the areas where the springs had collapsed. The best indicator that this was a hotel to avoid was just to stand outside the room. You find that safety and security are obviously an issue as all the rooms have been fitted with roll down security shutters! To top off a truly horrendous visit, one of the rooms had different men visiting the lady inside every hour or so until well into the night. It doesn't take a genius to understand why the mattresses are knackered. This hotel may be cheap, but just...
Read moreWe stayed here for the MMA Awards over at the Dome. It was in the perfect location, walking distance from where we were. Quite and out the way. The hotel is more like an American motel layout, rather than your typical hotel. Super basic but has all the amenities you need, such as complimentary tea, coffee, towels, free WIFI, it’s more than generous for the price. However I would say, maybe ask for additional pillows to sleep on, as we only got one each. Our stay was warm, friendly, quiet and super super clean. For two of us the price was unbeatable and we got the most friendly welcome in the morning by the cleaning staff and reception staff. We had an amazing home cooked full English breakfast, with lots of choice and a quaint little continental, all you can eat. You really can’t go wrong for the price if you’re looking for somewhere cheap, cheerful, clean and friendly. This place is the ideal. The only issue we had, was that we attempted to pay online through their webpage when we booked and were told we had to pay when we got there, in the booking email so we drew the money out for the stay, only to be told when we got there we couldn’t pay cash. Luckily we had extra in the bank or it could have been a case of us staying in our car. The young man on the desk on arrival wasn’t very friendly or helpful and had a bit of an attitude about the situation, which when we were running late for the event already, after travelling up from Dorset and there being a majour accident on the rds, Wasn’t great. We were hoping to check in, dump bags and run but this little incident meant we couldn’t do that, which was slightly frustrating and made us very late but not wholly the hotels fault. We will be using this hotel again in future should we be back in the area. Thank you for a...
Read moreI stayed at the Campanile Hotel Doncaster four years ago, and due to an issue with parking registration during the hotel's reception closures because of COVID-19, I've only recently received a County Court Judgment (CCJ) for a parking fine. Here's my experience:
Pros: Good location near Doncaster Dome and Racecourse. Rooms were clean and met basic expectations.
Cons: Parking Issues: The hotel requires daily registration for parking, but when you can't access the reception due to external factors, you're left vulnerable to fines. Despite my attempts to seek help, the hotel provided no assistance, leading to this legal headache years later. Service: When issues arise, the response from the hotel was inadequate, leaving guests to deal with significant consequences. Long-term Impact: A stay that should have been straightforward has turned into a legal and financial burden, affecting my credit rating at a time when personal health challenges make this even more stressful.
Advice for Future Guests: Be extremely cautious if you plan to park at this hotel. Ensure you register your vehicle immediately or consider alternative parking options. If you face any issues, document all communications with the hotel staff, as you might need this for future disputes.
Overall: I would not recommend this hotel to anyone who plans to drive, given my experience. The potential for unresolved issues leading to legal action long after your stay is a significant deterrent.
Note: I am currently in the process of seeking compensation from the hotel for this ordeal, but until it's resolved, I feel it's necessary to warn others of the potential pitfalls of staying here, especially if...
