We have just had our second visit to Bearswell and once again it was just perfect. We went by train so there was no hassle with Friday night traffic and only had to walk for two minutes to Bearswell to be welcomed by Peter and Nicola. The journey from London was so quick we had time for a quick drink at Borough wines, one minute walk away, before supper at a local curry house. And then we fell into a deep, seaside sleep in the lovely, comfy beds at Bearswell. This time we stayed in a room facing the garden. It was so bright, clean and comfy and the bath was just the right shape for lying back and reading a magazine. Saturday the town had a farmers/antique market, a fabulous pop up cafe - check out the hazelnut and chocolate cake! -, all minutes from Bearswell. There is an interesting mixture of stylish shops and old fashioned seaside fare in Deal, so by the time we had pottered down the pier, and taken a look at the town the day and gone we were ready for a delicious dinner. The waistline suffered a bit from the scrummy breakfast. Peter makes homemade bread everyday as well a delicious fruit compote. And his father in law helps out by making the marmalade which is the best I've ever tasted. Luckily we were there for two nights so we could indulge in the full english breakfast one day and the French toast and bacon the next. And let's not forget the fish and chips on Sunday on the sea front! This small bed and breakfast is a rare and very special place. So much thought and attention to detail have made it just the perfect Bed and Breakfast to escape to at the weekend. Set in a lovely quirky town, we can't...
Read moreIt’s been literally 15 mins since we’ve checked out. We’re on the train back to London and are already missing the warmth and comfort that we found at this amazing BnB in the heart of the quaint little seaside town of Deal.
Peter and Nichola are the most wonderful hosts and are the epitome of warmth and hospitality. We stayed in the Bay room over Christmas as we wanted some peace and quiet and we got plenty of it in this BnB, as luckily we were the only ones visiting over the holiday season.
The room is spacious, bed and linen super comfy, with a view overlooking the garden, coffee/tea/kettle at the ready, smart TV smartly tucked away in a corner, the colour of the walls soothing - perfect to relax!
The large bathroom has both a bath and shower, again spotlessly clean, with quality toiletries and other essentials.
Coming to my favourite part - what my life is mostly about - the food. The breakfast was cooked to order everyday. Unbelievable. I’d suggested to Peter that he turns pro as the quality of products used, the cooking, the presentation ..will leave you all at a loss for words. Other than the yogurt, museli, fresh cut fruits, tea/coffee, choices of cooked breakfasts included a full English, scrambled eggs with Salmon, French toast with either banana or bacon, Toast with avocado/eggs, just to name a few. The full English was my fav - and in my humble opinion, one of the best I’ve tasted in the UK - oh that bacon! Yum!
I could go on and on .. but you (the guest) should discover this place for yourself. Highly...
Read moreGreat location, (Deal isn't a huge place) but 2 mins from the seafront and highstreet. Super clean and tidy, great facilities and amenities including toilettries, bathrobes, big fluffy towels and tea/filter coffee. Bathroom in the Church Room was beautiful and spacious, with a free standing bath tub as well as large walk in shower. Large bed (think it was a king size).||||We were there last week during an uncharacteristially warm period so do note that there was no air conditioner or fan (we wouldn't normally expect one so do bring your own if you can't sleep in the heat).||||Breakfast was incredible, good quality produce and excellent choice including full english, different eggs, avocado toast, french toast etc... all with continental selection too which you can help yourself.||||Do note that the hosts are not wearing masks, nor do other guests within the property and you are seated around the same breakfast table as guests with a lot of communal elements especially around the fruit bowls, yogurt, juices and milk jugs.||||Parking was also a bit tricky as most are 2hrs max or similar. They are able to recommend some free parking towards the edge of town, around a 10 min walk from the BnB but it can be stressful to pull up in front of the property during the day when it is busy (as it's so centrally located) as it's a one lane, two direction road. Tip is to drive straight up the north end of the seafront and eventually you will reach free...
