Having sent the hotel a couple of queries by email well before my stay, I was distinctly unimpressed that, at the time of writing, I still haven't had a response to either. To my mind, that is fairly symptomatic of how this place operates. I was at check-in right on the stroke of 3pm, first in the queue. The lady said 'take a seat' I'll be there in a minute. So I did, as the queue grew and grew. The next thing I see is the aforementioned woman with her coat on, heading for the exit! I just sat and waited as the entire guest list checked in before me. I was in, as requested, accessible accommodation with a wet room, immediately through the nearest door to reception. It was very clean, typically furnished as per brand guidelines, while the bathroom was very well equipped. I liked the Bayliss and Harding toiletries. Only one set of towels though, which meant using damp ones the next morning, the heated towel rail not appearing to work. (Or maybe non-existent?) Being right beside a quite busy roundabout, with a branch of Lidl handy for provisions, as well as the famed middle aisle, I was worried about traffic noise. But the sound proofing was excellent and there were no disturbances from the road at all. But, dear oh dear, for a relatively modern building, the floors creaked dreadfully. It was unbelievable! I'd planned, with checkout being at midday, to spend the morning catching up on work, until I discovered that there was not a single bar of mobile signal in the room. Even in the restaurant, EE couldn't manage more than a single bar. Broadband speed is diabolically slow. The free version managed a parsimonious 0.87mbps upload and download speed, forcing me to spend £5 for a few hours on their 'Premium' product. That was advertised at 8mbps, and was within a short distance of that. BUT Premier Inns should, nowadays, be offering fast broadband free of charge to all guests, like the vast majority of hotels now do. Good internet access is an essential part of modern life. The room was cold, despite me carefully following the instructions, the extraction fan in the bathroom sounded akin to a jumbo jet taking off and the much-trumpeted mattress was horribly soft and did not give a good night's sleep. My repose was not aided by folk walking past the door on those unbelievably creaky floorboards. I can't think that any of the issues I have raised can be addressed by the time I return in a couple of weeks or indeed ever.

Another illegally dirty Asthma inducing dust filled hotel full of condensation and mould on windows as shown in pictures I’ve complained to premier REPEATEDLY over about 5/6 of their establishments that should be immediately shut down I feel like maybe we should set up a team to investigate across the uk why premier think it’s acceptable to risk a persons health and life over not paying a cleaner to clean This doesn’t happen in other chains of budget hotels even though premier charge a huge amount for a very poor product their hotels are all below standards and I find thick thick dust and mould mildew and stains in each room This means these rooms haven’t been cleaned in YEARS So if you have health conditions and concerns pls avoid all premier inns especially this one where the manager on site stated we have rooms that are 8 years old and need re doing …but I find this in rooms that are new NO WIFI UNLESS YOU PAY £5 AND EVEN THEN ITS SLOW AND NO HEATING IM SAT HERE IN MY COAT So wait for premier to leave a generic reply where they actually will never help EVER they don’t care PROFIT BEFORE YOUR LIFE is their company motto

Excellent service - before our stay, the staff helped with booking our accessible room; with setting up the room for us on arrival (making sure we needed the height of the bed increased) and helping with the luggage from the car; generally helpful, smiley and considerate staff, especially Toby who was duty manager on arrival. The accessible room was indeed accessible with a good sized wet room and lots of grab rails, sturdy shower chair (bigger than most) and a low height hand basin. Comfy bed, as always, great location being about 5 to 6 minute walk to the pier along decent smooth pavements. The restaurant and the breakfast area was large and easy to move in a wheelchair. All-in-all, full marks to the Premier Inn and its staff. Would highly recommend to wheelchair users.

We booked two rooms for a Saturday night quite recently. We parked for free in the ample car park at the back of the establishment. Check in was quick, efficient and managed by a polite and friendly lady. Both rooms, on the 1st floor, were identical. They included large, high double beds, a sofa/bed thing, a flat screen TV, free WiFi, kettle with free tea and coffee, and enough plugs to support those of us who travel nowadays with so much electronic equipment. The separate bathroom had a shower in the bathtub. The soft white, fluffy towels were great. The rooms were airy, modern and clean. All very nice. By the way, neither room had been equipped for double occupancy. Only a single set towels had been priovided.

We decided to stay at the hotel for evening dinner as the weather was so bad outside. Although many of the items on the menu were not available, we found more than enough to make a nice meal of it. We appreciated the patience of one of the staff members who made us aware of the special deal of breakfast, 2-course meal and a drink for 24,99 pounds per person. Excellent value.

However things went pear shaped in a big way when it came to pay for our meal. One of us tried to pay with a card but the tilling system was awful. Even though the payment was confirmed by the bank online, the hotel system failed to confirm payment. We couldn't leave until we offered another (second) method of payment. Which we did so that we could get to bed. Having paid twice we ere reassured that the second payment would be cancelled "when the manager came in the next day".

Anyway, the next day, the manager didn't turn up and none of the other 5 staff members knew how to refund our double payment. I got fed up. And, as I write this I still haven't received the refund for the double payment - one week later.

Sorry, but in this day and age we do expect a more efficient and trouble free payment system. I'll be thinking twice about ever coming back to this chain of hotels which is a real shame. But there enough...
