Sadly a one star review after visiting every Saturday for the past 6 months. Please read. We go to the boardwalk most Saturday morning after parkrun, where it can either be super busy or rather quiet. Yesterday we thought we would give the boardwalk the benefit of the doubt one last time as there always seems to be some sort of hiccups whenever we go. So yesterday was a quieter Saturday morning, we ordered poached eggs on toast and a full English breakfast and were advised of a 30 minute wait which seems reasonable. After 40 minutes we kindly asked for an update and were advised our food was literally being plated up as we spoke, after another 10 minutes our food still hadn't arrived and we asked again where our food was. The waiters and waitresses didn't seem to know how to deal with complaints and were unsure of how to deal with the situation except blame the chefs and tell us it was literally being plated up. After over an hour wait we finally got our breakfast which was mostly cold. Again staff didn't know what to say or do at this point except tell us that the feedback would be passed on. No offers to replace the cold eggs or anything to help the situation. As mentioned previously there always seems to be a problem whether it's missing eggs (which has turned into a running joke amongst park runners) or less than warm drinks that you have to drink immediately - no saving it to go with your breakfast, and no chance of getting anything extra without paying extra even if it's missing i.e mushrooms or tomato, they won't substituted. Sadly we have tried and tried again and have given numerous feedback but everytime it seems to improves it's immediately followed by a disappointing visit the next week. It has to be said that The boardwalk catered fantastically a few weeks ago when we had 20+ parkrun visitors for a hen weekend breakfast (no prior booking) on a fairly busy morning but then yesterday falls short when it was just the 3 of us on a seemingly quiet morning that seemed well staffed. The fluctuation in service and quality seems to be extremely up and down. It's a shame as it's a beautiful venue and you'd be happy to pay the higher prices for a lovely breakfast and service but it's got to the point were we wont...
Read moreI live locally and i/we usually pop in here on the odd occasion for a quick drink. Due to prices it's not a place that we would visit often nor would most locals visit often. Also, the facilities and food here does not reflect the high prices. I'd expect far better for the price they charge for food and drink. I'm happy to pay that bit more for quality food and quality facilities. But unfortunately most of the food from here is frozen and not fresh, even the bread is stale and that is just basic out of a bag food (come on guys),,,, the quality of food here is probably on par with budget supermarket food, the quantity is small and miserable looking. Then you are given a seat that isn't any more comfortable than a park bench. The whole experience is 'Poor' at best.
This place is definitely missing a trick here, and it can only be blamed on poor management. Waterproof cushions is a cheap option to provide comfort, or better still buy better chairs.
So sorry to say I can at best only score this bar/restaurant 2 stars. And that's only because of the 'sometimes' friendly staff and location.
I would score the food, facilities and extortionate...

I then asked for a glass and she went to a tray by the till with what looked like dirty glasses, she went to the sink and washed it and brought it back I refused it as it was still dirty she said it’s not dirty or the dishwasher marks . I advised I just seen you wash it in the sink it dirty I am not having that glass . So she went back to the sink and washed it again and put it on the bar I advised it’s still dirty I am sorry I am not using it . Another bartender came over and she took it away and said she will steam it which she did I was then brought back and out on the counter very hot , I advise I am not putting two cold bottle into a hot glass she tutted and then went and put in in the ice to cool it down which it did after ordering the beer and large glass of white wine spritzer and paying £21.50 I have to say I did t have a very...
